Some pretty interesting names on the coaches hot seat this week.

The fact that WF's head coach is making $2.4 mil/year versus NW's $1.3 mil/year is unreal.

Cannot believe Florida is standing behind Muschamp... with a knife that is...

We're 5-6, with a chance at a bowl game, in a new (tougher) conference, after losing much of our offensive talent from the previous year...and you're chomping at the bit to fire the new head coach?

Are you insane? Seriously, What is wrong with people?

Yeah, after the first 2 weeks, it looked like we were going to fall off a cliff this year and have a horrible season. The Pitt result really hurt, because BC is going to be a very tough game. But overall, they got the wheels back on the bus, even though we have a QB who has only thrown 1 TD pass in conference play. Can you imagine if Hunt was actually a threat back there? I prefer being bowl eligible and hope we can pull out BC, but even if we don't, a 5-7 first year is better than Marrone did.

The guy is going to win eight games and bowl this year.

I have a bunch of Iowa friends.

They love Ferentz and they understand the limitations with which he has to work.

He is on an ice cold seat.

I think he is in the middle of a ten-year deal.

Marrone should be so lucky.

yeah I live in Iowa...its very love/hate with Ferentz. People either love him or want him burnt at the stake. But I will tell you that he has definetely surpassed expectations this season. I have never met a bigger group of dillusional fans (excluding Rutgers of course) as to where they stand in the scheme of college football. But even most that I know didnt expect to win 5 games, let alone go bowling this season.

Sounds like the latter days of Coach P around here.

That happened with Jeff Tedford. Builds Cal up to be a national player. He's mentioned for every NFL job, even teams they haven't expanded to include yet. Then Cal became mediocre. Then Cal became terrible. Then they had to get rid of him. I don't even think he's working this year. USC offered him a consultant role and he turned it down.

Not saying that will happen, or should happen with Ferentz. Just a somewhat similar situation where you heard a guy's name linked everywhere, then you didn't.

I used to live near Cal. Tedford took over a 1-10 program which had a terrible decade similar to what we faced recently. He was the Jim Harbaugh of Cal before Jim became the Jim Harbaugh of Stanford. Jeff led Cal to a 7-5 record the first year. Almost a miracle. He went on a good ~7 year run with a very exciting offense - lots of scoring, lots of bigs plays. It helps alot when your first two QBs are Kyle Boller and Aron Rodgers. The last few years the recruiting trailed off and that was that. Cal football is back to being the Duke football of the West (except Duke for the moment is Cal of 10 years ago). I think the same thing will happen at Stanford: their current run will peter out into a string of 5-7 seasons like it has for half of the last 40 yrs. Just too hard for these high academic schools to consistently compete.

Late addition: I was thinking of Tedford when we hired GRob a few years later. I was hoping he would be the early Tedford of Syracuse instead he couldn't even be the late Tedford of Syracuse.

UT just suffered their worse home loss of the Mack Brown era. He's toast.

If he beats TT and Baylor and wins his Bowl game, I'm guessing he's safe. That said, he needs to beat Baylor at Baylor and that may be asking too much.

FWIW, the AD called the top recruit's father and told him London will be back next year. The recruit is enrolling in January.

Apparently London can recruit but just can't coach.

And Floyd Little told our recruits that Hackett was staying and he left a week later.

That's the conclusion that everyone's arrived at on TheSabre. They even brought in Toby to help him and that hasn't worked.

London won't leave voluntarily. He gets a huge buyout from UVa if/when they let him go and no one else has been maneuvering to get him.

I guess I'm going off of what will probably happen. IF UT wins out and possibly captures a share of the B12 championship, then yeah, Mack will be back for at least one more year.
