First off I thought that was a very well played game. Thought both Minnesota and Syracuse played extremely well. Fun game to watch with a ton of energy from both sides. As for Syracuse I thought there were a ton of great performances that contributed to a solid win

DaJuan Coleman - Is he becoming a force inside? After watching him these past 2 games I will say yes definitely. He is far an away our best rebounder, both on the offensive and defensive end. He has shown the ability to finish better around the basket, or at very worst get the other team in foul trouble. I actually thought his defense was much improved today, although he still disappeared somewhere on the bench the last 10 minutes? I have been pleasantly surprised, and hopefully he continues to earn JB's trust because we are at our best when he is out there.

Trevor Cooney - Continues to be our only 3 point shooting threat. Nobody else really attempts any. It will be crucial for him to stay healthy. He is just as important as Southerland was last season. We need him out there knocking down shots, and he came through big in the first half.

Tyler Ennis - Some people (especially on twitter) are real down on him. I am not one of those people. He had a very good game, in his first big time college game. He handled the press extremely well. I don't think he had a sinlge turnover? He makes his free throws, and makes good decisions. He is another person who has to stay healthy. Like Cooney being the only shooter, he is our only ball handler. After Silent G got stripped in the back court in the 2nd half he didn't want the ball. Ennis is great with the ball, and will only get better. He is a better shooter then he has shown, and once he starts hitting his normal % the slow start to the season will be a distant memory

CJ Fair - A typical ho-hum 17 and 10 game we have come to expect. He hit some huge shots down the stretch when we needed them the most. Played like a team captain should.

Rak - Thought he was extremely active. Still got beat for position on a few offensive rebounds he let up, but overall a solid game. Had 3 highlight reel dunks, and played solid defense.

Well said bud, well said.
I would have liked to see some more G in the second half, but hey, we won!

i think G improves our defense a bit, but I think what we give up on offense we have to be careful with it. He has played much better then I was originally expecting though.
I think his game should be a drive and pass over the defender for the Oop or dump off or even the Fair floater.

Really, really impressed with the way our guards handled the pressure defense. Ennis only had one turnover, and Cooney only really had one brain fart with the ball, which unfortunately was late in the game. Gbinije, for being a first year point guard, was also surprisingly strong protecting the ball. I was very pleasantly surprised.

We aren't going to face a press like Louisville this year, people. Our guards will handle every press opponents will throw at us pretty adequately, if not better, this year.

Cole had a couple nice blocks tonite too! He's coming along!

The worst offensive combo is Gbinje and Keita out there at same time IMO...

CJ can shoot. He didn't attempt any 3's today. Would be nice to have a legit 3rd threat though.

Agree,

G got stripped on one play he should have crosovered and went back outside but he got stripped trying to take it under our own basket(worst possible place). Then he got mad about it you could tell by the heat he put on the pass to Ennis, and got pulled. Probably got alittle to emotional over that one play, he was quick to pass the ball in the offense the next half court possession after instead of brainstorming how he could help the offense and considering a drive.

I felt we put him in to late when we were up 10, we could have used his length in case we didn't score. You knew the crap whistles were coming (a sad part of the game of basketball). Then we took him out to quick after one play.

Kind of surprised Coleman only had 9 and 4. Felt like he had more rebounds.

Nice stat line from Ennis 12 pts 5 assts 5 steals 4 rebs. 10-11 ft line...only blemish 1-9 fg Oh Lord

Or Keita and Christmas at the same time (as when CJ went out for cut control).

I was at the Carolina - Louisville game. Their press ... meh. I think the way they are calling games this year is gonna hurt them as much as anyone.

Would love to see G take some more attempts from 3. He's so solid with everything he does. I get this weird feeling that he could be an absolute stud if he could ust get some.. confidence?

Maybe JB just told him "this is your role, do it".

I don't know.

Rak found him in the corner for three again after a offensive rebound directly under the basket with their 6'11 guy on him. Rak continues to impress me with those passes but we miss off them. He found Cooney on a pass or two again today as well. If Rak had Wes Johnson Southerland or Andy on the perimeter he could have 5-7 assists a game at this point in the season.

To cap it off, the layup Malik made hit 6 inches to the left of the middle of the square on the backboard. It was like the ball had reverse english and went in. I'd be mad too.

As far as ball security in the face of full court pressure, Ennis may prove to be even better than our guards from the last few years.
