Some thoughts...

Because if you can imagine this... I would hope there are actually mature adults that want to talk basketball and dont' give a **** about whether someone is a fan. God forbid someone try to have a civil discussion. Frankly, if that's so hard for people, they shouldn't be on the internet at all, let alone worrying why college basketball fans want to have a discussion with other college basketball fans.

Do you think people should only mingle with their own gender/race/orientation as well?
We love talking about basketball. Syracuse University basketball. And our opponents up to a point, like before the game and generally a short while after. But our season is over and you still have at least one more game. Shouldn't you search out the Kansas board and engage with them about your upcoming game? I honestly don't think you have anything worthwhile to add to our discussions about our team. Including anything new to add about last night's game.

That's quite the quantum leap there, Einstein.

I actually ignored that comment.
I should have also, but I was stunned that he would actually go there.

The other poster that said you were passive aggressive is correct. Either that or you are an imbecile. Nobody here wants to hear how enlightened you are in your analysis by using statistics that are completely unqualified, i.e., when the fouls occurred, who got them, or external factors such as that we play a zone (which typically limits fouls), etc. The officiating was a farce no matter how you try to spin the numbers. So much media attention and opponent fans' boards posts tells me that you are wrong. It was a huge factor. Forty two FTA is practically unheard of and is a completely absurd number. It has to be close to a record. Talking about how their coaches put them in a better position to succeed is utter rubbish. Scoring 29 points from the line has far less to do with coaching than it does with reffing, so to ask that the biggest factor be left out of the conversation is ridiculous. The ramifications of the officiating even went far beyond points. It changed the style and the personnel available to compete on one side, while leaving the other nearly intact. And yes, Sulliger's 2nd foul was a foul. As far as posting on this subject is concerned, I'd rather have you not posting on this subject at all. Ever.

Oh yes, since you are so interested in stats, you might want to check the box score. SU had more points in the paint, more blocks, and shot a higher %. The word you are searching for is screwed.

I don't know that anyone is suggesting that the officiating didn't give Ohio State an advantage (I'm sure not), but what's wrong with setting aside the topic of officiating and just discussing the teams' play?

Ignoring pertinent information to focus only on specific other information is called rationalization.

hey guys, let's talk about the game, but let's altogether ignore the poor officiating which impacted the outcome of said game.

Poor officiating is in no way germane to the wide-open missed layups that I was speaking of.

Cool idea. Hey, did you notice how little Dion played in the second half? I couldn't figure out what JB was thinking. Any idea what the heck was going on there? Did they have a fight or something?

lol

I finally see the discussion that he was hoping for. Man I feel stupid now.

I agree, I thought Dion could have really broken down OSU's defense. Did any reporters ask JB why he played Dion such limited minutes? I also thought Southerland could have a big impact and hit his first shot, but then only played 11 minutes!? Seriously JB, whats with the rotations yesterday? He barely played our best players, its time for Hop to take over.

Exactly what I was thinking about JB. The game has obviously passed him by. I thought for sure he would press more in the second half once we fell behind. What's the sense of having a so-called deep team if he not going to take advantage of all the fouls we had to give?

What did he get a technical foul for? JB really put his foot in his mouth there. He really had no reason to be so angry. Triche has to know that you cant have contact with a player who is moving and is inside the restricted circle. I expected more out of a Junior.

I hear you, man. And did you see Triche's reaction to the call? He's damn lucky he didn't get teed up himself. That kid is going to cost us bigtime with that mouth of his. He should take a look at how those OSU players handle themselves when they are upset with a call, especially that somewhat wide fellow they have playing center. He just puts his head down, bites his lip and walks away. I just love the discipline that kid shows.

When he was on the bench I think he yelled to the ref, something like "Hey, good call sir!"

Yes, yes, that is exactly what he said! I'm a real good lip reader and I'm never wrong.

Gotta tell you man, it just feels so good to have an intelligent discussion about the game. I was pretty upset earlier but I've learned a lot about myself today and I'm going to try my best to be a better fan going forward.

Sullinger is a great player who is very respectful. You could tell JB thought alot of him when he employed the strategy of having Keita intentionally foul him everytime he touched the ball.

Keita should've been whistled for a Flagrant 1 for that vicious trip of Sir Sullinger in the 2nd half.

What about Dion when he bodyslammed that guy about 10 feet into the crowd while picking up his 4th foul? If this was hockey he would have been in the penalty box for sure.

You are so right about that. That was really my only criticism of the officiating yesterday. I know I'm probably nitpicking here, but they really should have gone to the monitor to review that play. Keita really dodged a bullet there.

Luckily Christmas probably wasnt in any real foul trouble and could have filled in if Keita was ejected.

Nobody noticed this, but in the 1st half, Triche actually used a razor blade, WWF-style, to slice open Smith.

Also, rumor has it that SU is self-reporting a violation that occurred yesterday - specifically, JB leaving the coaches' box after Triche steamrolled the OSU defender in the restricted area

JB should self report his subsitution patterns. No reason for Dion and Southerland to play such limited minutes.

As I recall, it was right in front of the SU bench too. Then JB acted surprised by the call! What a clown. He's been condoning that thuggery for years and it's just getting worse.

I just hate that were getting that reputation of a clutch and grab kind of team. I mean it seems like were in foul trouble every game!
