Someone Had To Do It: Miami Attendance

JeremyCuse I know exactly what I am talking about.

"I hate to be the bearer of bad news" but you come off as a pretty condescending person, especially since it is obvious that you don't actually know all that much about the topic at hand... Why did you mention "consipiracy". There is no conspiracy, it is all all facts.

- SU offers printed tickets to some folks for an expensive additional fee.

- On none of our sites are we able to print off PDF tickets to give away to people, which is EXTREMELY common all across America.

- Syracuse does not provide physical paper tickets to season ticket holders, (like the Las Vegas Raiders do here in Las Vegas, for example).

- I have many screenshots of posting tickets, then checking to see what i could buy them for, and then once they actually sell, seeing how much I collect.
They do offer physical paper tickets to season ticket holders. The 85 year old lady I sit next to for basketball has physical tickets. So, you don’t know exactly what you’re talking about.

And Ticketmaster makes a whopping 30%

Which is pretty insane.

Of course none of us would use it, but basically to sell your tickets now you have to with the push to go digital

Kind of sad really
This! This is a major reason why (I think) that casual fans never make it inside the Dome... they see seatgeek and don't realize how wildly inflated the prices are vs ticketmaster (where they are still expensive) and immediately stop considering going.

LOL you didn't read my post and then made that comment . The very expensive premium that they charge elderly season ticket holders is ridiculous and obscure.

Ticketmaster does collect fees yes that's correct. I may have misread what you put for seatgeeks costs versus TM but my point still stands in that tons of Syracuse fans (many on this board) are moving their tickets via TM with little issue and at decent prices.

I actually know a lot about the ticket issue itself within SU and the digital aspect. I mentioned conspiracy because your post made it sound like SU was some outlier using digital tickets, when just about everyone is these days, very few pro and D1 teams are still using paper tickets. What major sports teams allows its fans to print off PDF tickets beyond maybe 1 or 2 outliers.

There's no scenario where SU goes back to full time paper tickets which is what you appear to be implying needs to happen. Your yearning for an era that stopped existing years ago. There haven't been scalpers outside the dome since before covid. As I noted and you conceded SU does offer paper tickets for an additional fee, if you want paper tickets that bad why not go for that or speak with your rep and see if they will work something out with you.

The fact you think the hassle of transferring digital tickets is somehow suppressing attendance is honestly concerning. It's 2024, almost all events are digital at this point and transferring tickets or the process of has 0% impact on attendance.

Wrong, FYI we down-sized the Dome this year and your comments are irreleveant.

They put in individual seats versus bench seating of course the Dome was downsized, how could it not be?

"Honestly concerning?" Why would you be "honestly concerned" about my opinion?

JeremyCuse I know for a fact that it does suppress attendance. Many elderly former Syracuse football players do NOT like having to deal with the digital tickets and can't give away their tickets as easily as they used to.

Also, how can you seriously think that inflating the prices of every ticket on the secondary market by a minimum of 30% has no impact on attendance? You are definitely wrong about that. Open a business and you will learn how prices impact sales very quickly.

Again, nobody is implying anything about "going back to full time paper tickets". The artifical 30% mark-up is a major problem though.

Regarding the conspiracy thing, there is no "outlier" suggestion here either- I am very familiar with prcing and ticketing options all around the nation. I was at the Cal game last wekeend, Uconn this weekend, and I am in Vegas today. MANY venues allow PDF print-outs, among many other options. I was simply articulating what I have observed: that the attendance is worse than ever and that the pricing and accessibility of the tickets are the main reason why, from what I have observed.

I wasn't honestly concerned about your opinion, I was concerned because you think transferring tickets is hard with SU, it's not its pretty easy. I can understand that some elderly former players may have an issue but that's a very small % of the overall fanbase, most have no issue. Those older players should speak with SU and their ticket reps about getting paper tickets, SU will work with them especially being alumni and former players, as noted paper tickets are possible with SU. I understand attendance isn't where we all wanted it to be this year but I can assure you the digital ticket systems plays almost no part in that.

Yes Ticketmaster re-sale prices aren't cheap by any stretch but again that's the secondary market, what secondary ticket market isn't inflated? People can buy directly from Syracuse and avoid the mark ups be it from buying season tickets, the game package specials that come out usually weekly or even in person at the box office. There's a ton of ticket accessibility through SU itself that would allow any fan to avoid the secondary market.

Regarding attendance itself, the Dome isn't selling out but to say it's worse then ever is not accurate. The numbers aren't like they were two years ago only because SU isn't essentially giving away tickets for two games to try and fill the Dome. That practice has ended and the attendance reflects as such. Could overall prices in some sections be lower, I think they could and SU will have to assess that themselves in the off-season.

How hard is it for the students to be back on Saturday for the game?

I am sure some will be here but keep in mind this game is not officially part of the student ticket package so that will impact some. I think you will see more then you did last Saturday as I am sure most were already gone.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but every D1 team with a pulse and NFL team has gone to digital ticketing. There is no consipracy that's just how it goes now, the days of printed tickets are long gone for the general fan. SU still offers some printed tickets on request, you may want to look into that.

Also your digital pricing figures are way off. I know multiple fans who put there's up for sale and got the price they asked for on ticketmaster with no exorbitant mark up. Sure TM takes their cut but not at the volume you referencing.

I thought he had written that 2 decades ago and forgot to post it until today. Someone pinch him and let him know it’s 2024.

Anyone else having issue when they log into TM they hvae to reset their password each time? So annoying.

Not that, but what is annoying is every time I try to transfer tickets to somebody it doesn’t let me do it via text message, always have to cancel it and then switch to email and then it works

Mine just had to be reset for the first time in a while. Odd it asks you to do it every time, may want to reach out to them.

You can transfer tix on TicketMaster for no cost. I’m not sure why you’d need to have a paper ticket to give away, unless you’re literally just handing them to randos on the street.

Ticketmaster was hacked so now they’re requiring everyone to change their password.

Not being able to sell out a 42k stadium for this matchup, when we have one of our best teams of this century, play a genuinely exciting brand of football, and are playing a Top 10 team and nostalgic rival, is just pathetic to me.
Pathetic isn’t strong enough…
