Time for Cuse to take a game or two away from the Dome. The ACC money will be flowing and games like this will be a way to thank the fans in places like Rochester, Buffalo and Albany.

We might call up St. Bona and tell them...play in the Dome one year and split the gate and seats in Rochester the other year.

St Bona is currently offering a 1-1 with Big Boy schools (one in Roch and one away) but I think Cuse could sway them to split the gate in Rochester as it would be a guaranteed sellout. Tickets I imagine would go for $40-75.

Blue Cross Arena seats approx 11,000. SU last played there against St Bonnie during the 2003-04 season.

BTW saw this at the link above:

Does this come with complimentary head smacks?

Rutgers Jimmy Martelli 7324457861 jmartelli@scarletknights.com Rutgers needs 4 guarantee games. Many dates available. Please email with any interest. 2013-2014 2012-08-22 15:54:07

Another idea is for SU just to control the whole arena and get someone like Niagara to drive over for a guarantee. It would still sell out but you might drop the pricing a little.

Or Niagara could just drive a little farther East and you could sell twice as many tickets. :D

Mark, I just don't see a need to do this.

But you know that's not the point...spreading the brand and giving back to Monroe County is the goal.

So we don't need to recruit Rochester?

It is a friggin 75 minute bus ride over for the team. It builds brand awareness. Gives thanks to the fans from Rochester who trek over for FB and BB games. Lets a player's parents see him play in his hometown. Game will be in Nov or Dec. Jim is from nearby Lyons...swan song goodbye game in Rochester for him? The atmosphere would be better in Rochester vs St. Bona or Niagara than in front of 15,000 at the Dome.

I think the time to do this will be when Hop takes over. Rochester right now is solidly behind SU hoops. The time for a nice gesture to keep the fans would be after the change when the ties to Rochester weaken a little.

I wouldn't be against a game in HSBC arena(or whatever it is called) next year just as game in the arena we could play the NCAA tournament in to get a feel of the arena. Who would be the best team for that arrangement? Canisius, St. Bonaventure, Buffalo? We could probably get a 2 for 1 the arrangement and if it was 1 for 1 save a little money to buy a better guarantee game.

Doesn't JB try to get a game close to a player's hometown at least once in the 4 years? A Roc City game could be in the works for Chinoso one of these years. Like playing Canisius in Buffalo for Jonny/Paul, or UCLA for J. Hart.

or we can just grab Bryant and Rochester can thank us for the drive to the dome. :D

Come to Alumni Arena and play UB!
I promise you'll win!

By 50!

St Bona has reached out to them numerous times since that game in 03 about doing this, and SU has not recently been interested.

st bonaventure is usually really physical. Usually as much if not more then seton hall gtown.

I seem to recall going to an SU-Bona game in Rochester in the mid-late 70's and it did not turn out so well.

Lots of Rochester folks have season tix for SU basketball. The seats on either side of my two seats are held by Rochester people (and they both have four each).
