Stanford fires Coach Taylor

What I find interesting is that GM Andrew Luck put out the statement, not the AD

I think that's a first for a GM in college to announce a firing. Not sure if it was primarily Luck's decision.

Makes you realize who will most likely be in charge of hiring the new head coach as well, plenty of worse people to do the hiring.

I guess it makes sense, get a football guy in to make football decisions.

You used to see Football coaches as ADs I think George Perles at Michigan St was the last of his kind as the AD role has transitioned to more Marketing and fundraising. Something SU should consider. And keep the BOT away from these decisions.

So, do players in the 2025 class who signed LOI's get to leave?

I ask b/c Stanford recruited a surprising number of players from the east coast, at least two of whom we offered and I think that Fran might still be interested in.

Specifically:

and

I believe they do, yes, anytime a coach leaves for whatever reason, a kid has I believe 30 days to go into the portal

Pretty sure Andrew Luck was announced to have full power over the football program when he was announced GM. Maybe I am dreaming that. But that sounds familiar to me.

I just confirmed he does. He reports directly to the school president. He is essentially the AD when it comes to football

Correct. I remember that when he was announced also. I think he is the only one with that kind of power in college at this point.
