Stanford...ooof

Losing to Hawaii is a bad look.

Very. The play calling on Hawaii's last drive not calling time outs and then passing when they had to the ball to save time for them was very head scratching.

Had Hawaii -2.5 😁

Also Hawaii was with a hobbled QB1 the entire 2nd half, kid was basically playing on 1 leg the entire half and was essentially a shell of what he was/is capable of. Fully healthy this game would have been a rout.

Good team, gonna be betting them a lot this year.

Stanford receiving corp was decimated by graduation and transfer. Their QB was not stellar as a passer. Basically, they are a running team and everyone can learn and the box to win.

* I watched only the last 20 minutes, limited observation.

Not sure they will be able to get back to their dominant ways, at least during their time as an ACC outcast. They just seem misaligned in many ways in this conference and the travel will definitely be an issue. They do recruit nationally so maybe a coach like Harbaugh can save them.

That Hawaii B-roll footage they show before and after commercials is just intoxicating. I have to get out there before I die. It’s only one of 5 states I have left to visit. (I don’t think I’m missing anything with Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas and North Dakota).

Extremely hot take, I’ve been 4 times and I think it’s most over rated and overly expensive place there is in the world. Give me Cabo over Hawaii every time

Their QB is the worst I’ve seen at a Power 4 a school and that is not hyperbole. They have no chance to win a conference game as long as that kid continues to start.

Insane they couldn’t attract someone better out of the portal with Luck essentially on staff there
And Lamson had to transfer because he couldn’t beat that guy out.

im going to guess your Tennessee visit was to Nashville and not Memphis, because if it was Memphis, you couldve just walked over that bridge to Arkansas, set foot...and counted it like i did.

no need to go back.

unlike Hawaii...fwiw, which i very much enjoyed.

Last summer we visited Memphis, stayed in Mississippi, and crossed the bridge to have lunch in Arkansas.

I watched this game live because I'm local here on Oahu and a Hawaii fan (In addition to being a Cuse alumn and long-time fan). Stanford is not going to be good this year. They looked evenly matched with Hawaii, but with a less dynamic offense.

That should never be the case based on the resource differences between the two schools. A couple of years back, our stadium in Hawaii rusted badly and was condemned, leaving our team with no field to play on. The school had to feverishly build a makeshift on-campus "stadium" in a few months that has a capacity of about 14,000. Some high schools in Texas have far better facilities.

The only outlier is that Hawaii runs a pure version of the run and shoot offense, which is challenging to game plan against if the opponent is not familiar.

The portal has killed Stanford. The out-going talent has been much greater than the in-coming talent; and for a simple reason--university admissions. Academics prevent them from getting the quantity of quality players they need to compete. The fact that Lamson met the Stanford standard should be a source of SU pride.

Horrible coaching IMO, Hawaii couldn’t stop the run at all, Stanford with brutal performance.
They had the ball with 2 minutes left and threw the ball. That game should have been no worse than OT for Stanford. That was coaching malpractice.
