Starting 5 for $15

Dave Bing is grossly underrated by this draft board.

Carmelo Anthony and Dave Bing $10 gets you all the scoring you need, and most of your rebounding… Bing averaged 10.6 boards a game and 6.6 assists… Even if you assume he won’t be as good in the modern era, he’s worth $5.

Then you need a tough shotblocker. Rakeem Christmas and his 2.5 blocks and 9.1 rebounds take care of that for only $2 more.

Bing is kind of your point guard, shooting guard and a good rebounder, and Anthony is amazing, but you still need another ball handler. Tyler Ennis is that man for only $2. Steady, a 35% three point shooter, and got us 5.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game in his one season here.

I went with Brissett with my last $1. He is a very good rebounder, could block a shot, and didn’t need the ball in his hands to help the team.

Anthony, Bing. Ennis, Christmas and Brissett would be extremely hard to beat, and I’m under budget.

$13

Always wonder how guys of different generations would stack up against each other or how someone's performance/level of success might have changed in a different generation?
Let’s say you discount Bing 50%

He still averaged 12 points, 5 boards and 3 assists from the guard spot.

25%? 18, 7, and 5!

His numbers were otherworldly, even for his time.

These valuations are insane, so who knows what the creator was thinking, but I'll choose to interpret this as, take the players best year and assemble the best stats fantasy league style, while choosing a player who actually played each position PG, SG, SF, PF, C.

Start with Bing who is the best player here and only costs $3 for some reason.

Hughes who lead the ACC in scoring and only costs $1 is great value. There is my back court.

Throw Christmas for $2 at center for good value.

Still have $9 for the forwards. Give me Wallace and Owens.

Looking up the ppg quick I've got:
PG: Bing 28.4
SG: Hughes 19.0
SF: Owens 23.3
PF: Wallace 22.2
C: Christmas 17.5

Total points: 110.4 ppg, can anyone beat it?

Pg-Sherman Douglas $4

Sg- Dion $2

SF- Eli Hughes $1

PF- Melo $5

C- Xmas $2

Pg-Sherman Douglas $4

Sg- Dion $2

SF- Eli Hughes $1

PF- Melo $5

C- Xmas $2

You’ve got $1 leftover.

For which you can upgrade from $2 Waiters Island to $3 Dave Bing at SG.

Bing isn’t an NBA HOF’er for nuthin.
Folks don’t know just how ridiculously talented he was.

You don't have the top - rated Center up there. R. Bouie is considered the best Center, so I'll put him up for a dollar. You want the best ever up there you've got them, but it costs you more than 15 bucks any way you want to arrange them.

BING $3
DOUGLAS $3
MELO $5
COLEMAN $5
BOUIE $1
$17 and you have the best Syracuse Basketball players ever.

I’ll reverse that -
Adding Buddy to a line that has GMAC & Scoop on it is - egads.

Scoop is quietly one of our very best PG’s, ever.
In spite of not playing much as a Frosh, and being 6th man (of the year!!) as a Soph, he’s 6th all-time in assists at Cuse.
SECOND all-time in steals!!
He’s also at #41 in the top 100 for career scoring.
It wasn’t an accident or coincidence that he was an integral part of our two very best TEAMS ever -
2010 & 2012.

Buddy = Matt Roe w the greenest light ever.
Buddy was a volume shooter & scorer on our worst teams in history.

There’s not room on the top line, but;
Bing is a $5 player.
Period. Full stop.

And I know it’s “recency” bias, but -
He was waaaaay better than Moten.
With only 3 years to play varsity ball in college, and no 3pt line.

So worst case - he’s a $4 player here.

Given that Rak is the only true C on the entire list
(Yeah, you could certainly play DC there),
you’re kinda forced to chose him as a bargain, or go big w DC, and then fill in around them.

So…

DC (at the 4)
Sherm
Bing
Rak
Eli

But honestly, you could swap DC for Melo OR Billy and still have a kickass squad, because Sherm would get whomever it was the ball.

And both of those guys were big enough and boarded well, so they could play college PF easily.
Triche should be on there instead of a bunch of recent players.

I agree with everything you said. Especially the stuff about Bing. He definitely deserved a top line.

I didn’t spend much time debating Ennis and Jardine…

You may have changed my mind.
