State of the State

But will they be as durable? It will be nice to have Smith back next year. He's had a decent year, but nothing that says NFL.
dont know Morris has that vision and acceleration it seems to me though.

This is what I would like to know.We go from BE $ to ACC $ and still can't spare any?

I'd bet the IPF is lost in the new Chancellor shuffle. Once the new guy gets settled, it will work itself out. But there is obviously a delay.

We haven't gotten ACC money yet. When we eventually do, you think it will go to the IPF? It's not even all going to go to football, nor should it.

Speaking of Smith....not a knock on him be cause hes been pretty darn good, but I think DM and GM2 are going to be better.

I'm excited to have them as a combo and that we have 3 more years to watch them grow. Will be nice to see them each get ~ 15 touches per game as both are shifty and have big play capability as well as some toughness between the tackles. It won't be an either/or proposition as it is this season.

All of the above being said the next step in the programs rebuild is start getting some kids that are closer to FSU's starters on the roster.
Closer, sure. But I think this Florida State team might be the most talented college football team since Miami 2001.

Great stuff to read on a Monday morning.

The one thing that continues to stand out to me is our lack of explosive players at WR, and among our starters at RB. In my extremely amateur opinion, McDonald's offense doesn't work with guys who take time to get up to speed from a dead stop. The only fleeting moments of excitement I've had this year are when Clark or Estime catch a quick pass and explode down the field. I don't see anyone else on the roster who can do that. Even Broyld, when he gets going, looks slow-ish.

So I could care less about the 40 times for the WR's we are recruiting. I hope the staff is focused solely on 10- or 20- times.

No I don't think it will at all.I wouldn't be a bit surprised if NONE of it went to football.I will believe there's going to be an IPF when I see it.

Not sure what happened there but that wasn't my post you quoted.

I know I'm going to be told no, but seriously, let's just crack open the endowment and get the damn thing built.

We'll never be Florida State. The only time we'll beat them is if they've gotten into trouble like Miami and lose some scholies while we are at a peak. We could be as good as Clemson normally is. This Clemson team is their best since their 1981 national champions. With Boyd and Watkins, they remind of when we had McNabb and Harrison. If Louisville replaces Maryland, that will be an upgrade and they could be consistently good. But our best teams are as good as theirs. We can be better than the rest of the division. When we are up and Florida State is down, we might even win it someday and then who knows.

I would love to know the real story what's going on with the IPF. Possibly a donor backing out?

Maybe they realized they already have one?

When does SU get the ACC money and along those lines, do they get any of that Maryland $ when they leave?

The ACC money isn't going towards the IPF (not implying you meant that either).

Further, Gedney, Poles and the boys are hot on the trail trying to pick up some donations and naming rights. After the IPF, they want to begin endowing coaching positions. Either way, they are stuck with whatever each respective donor wants to do with their contribution. "I'm in!" is the marketing slogan, but it is not only for the IPF. For example, I just had a couple friends who have multiple courtside bball tickets donate $10k to the women's cross country team (wife was an all-American runner).

I was afraid that was the case. Pretty discouraging . My main concern is the overall genuine lack of interest in the football program by the community and alumni. If you compare it to basketball it's pretty scary and you have to wonder just how easy it will be to raise the additional funds? Unless we have a breakout season to spark interest it's going to be tough. The interest or lack thereof seems to get increasingly worse by the year. I was hoping that they would just make an investment now and get paid back later? After all that is what happened with the Melo Center. Plus you can just look at it like an IOU from when the bowl money from the 90s was being funneled back to through the whole University
