Lots of seniors and a lot of guys that carved out anything from a cup of coffee to a long NBA career.

Wow, a lot of really, really good players on that list. This really puts into perspective how great a season he had.

He's put together a spectacular year.

Truly, an amazing transformation in his level of productivity--the likes of which we might not ever see again in this program.

Hats off to Rakeem Christmas.

random aside here

i was looking at the nba stats of the guys on that list

kaman has made 77 million

wow

hopefully the next rakeem christmas gets the ball once in a while before his senior year

Right. Because he could have produced at this level his entire career if it only weren't for those mean coaches holding him back.

there is some room between "amazing transformation in his level of productivity" and "he could have produced at this level his entire career"

Click on "FGA" and then the arrow next to it. Rakeem becomes third on the list in terms, meaning he was being this productive while not getting a lot of shots off.

to be fair, many of those other guys had more PPG

i used christmas's numbers as the minimum, some of those guys might've been just as productive on more shots

Nobody transforms from who he was last March to the beast he was this November. "Conversations", "sit downs", and confidence don't yield that much if a difference. The guy had game he never ever saw the ball. Look at the numbers, hell, his shooting percentage is worse than it was last year if that tells you something.

It tells you the defense was all over him this year.

I don't discredit that but he could always put the ball in the basket. The numbers don't lie that he didn't get any touches his first three years here.

In 2010, Arinze and Rick got plenty of touches and we had Wes, Andy, Kris, Brandon and Scoop. If Rak were this good before this year, he would have gotten the ball.

He was pretty efficient last season making 60%+ of his shots, but he took three and a half shots a game. I'm not a math wizard or anything but it seems if you're having a tough time scoring, you may want to have a guy shooting that well shoot the ball more. Guys hitting .320 in baseball aren't batting 9th or the first hitter off the bench.

He was making dunks and lay-ups mostly. I recall him working on a hook shot. He showed flashes of what he might do this year but his game wasn't nearly what it is now.

That was an exceptionally good passing team that had players that could penetrate and had amazing floor spacing because they all could shoot it pretty well. Those guys would have fed the post even if we had Billy Celuck manning the spot for 40 minutes a game.

We weren't exactly trying to get it into the post last year. Or if we were, they were absolutely abysmal at it.

And, just to quote JB's radio show one more time, "Rak isn’t coming – he’s there. He could have gotten there last year but the focus was on the guards and forwards. We had more options then." - Jim Boeheim

But if he had the capabilities he's showed this year, he would have been used more than he was last year. We all saw those capabilities beginning to develop then but they weren't fully realized then. Anyone could see that. You don't just ignore an 18 and 9 type guy.

I could see it. OttoMets could see it. Some others I can't remember. Maybe we were wrong last year and got lucky this year. I doubt it.

It's not like Christmas was some 1 star scrub that turned into teen wolf this year

Boeheim made a mistake. It's ok. No one's perfect.

His left was one of the major differences this year I believe. That and the fact that CJ was gone and there was no other options to replace him. The focus of the offense changed. I just wish it had changed incrementally instead of in one fell swoop. I too believe Rak could have contributed far more earlier in his career if he had been encouraged to/allowed to and not ripped out of the game after a singular mistake on defense.
