I am waiting to see Fran use Malachi for just one play; he runs a 4.24 40 faster than Sean. He gets loose, no one will catch him.

I think Nixon was a bit better than serviceable. He looked pretty good. If he is healthy, I honestly expect him to get about as much action as Willis. He is certainly the more well rounded back as he was a good receiver as well. Not quite Lequint but still solid.

I do think the RB group this year will definitely be a step down from Lequint. Really think we need to recruit a bit better there but maybe it was a bit hard just because we passed it so well and threw the ball all over. But Nixon was a RB coach in the NFL so you would think that would help a bit.

LQA didn't impress as a freshman either until the bowl game. Willis showed good tools. We'll have to see how that translates to him being the primary guy.

He weighs less than 200lbs and carrying a football slows a person down. Tennessee backfield will be plenty fast. No magic bullets here. The game will be fought in the trenches.

Yep - agreed... tho I feel like Willis has some impressive moves and showed glimpses of ball catching ability LY... He strikes me as a player that could explode on the scene when he puts it all together (kinda like Tucker) if all goes well for him. That's just a gut take so we will have to see, but I have optimism with him...

I do think that Willis catches the ball better than people think. They see his physique and think power back, but he had a couple of nice grabs last year. Showed better hands than I expected last year.

I get that people view that as a question mark for Willis, but I think we might be in for a pleasant surprise.

Agreed. I distinctly remember a great catch in the Spring game last year and another against Miami I believe. He's got some hands

I am opposite. Willis can mke u miss and run u over and he has some hands too. blocking is a work in progress and nixon is a quick nat type of guy. He isnt big enough to be full time rb but can really catch. Willis will be a pro
 
Im fine using three or four backs this year

Likely will be looking at two primary guys next year unless one explodes this year

The three players I'm most excited to see are Nixon, Samuel and Buxton.

I thought Nixon showed a lot last year in limited time. I like the veteran experience too. Put it this way. On our first series against Tennessee, in front of their crowd, I'll want the ball in a safe pair of hands. That's Nixon. I love our RB combo coming into the year. We need them to stay healthy.

If Willis shows in practice that he's the better guy, you start him. Starting Nixon, if he doesn't look like the better guy, is coaching scared. Holdng onto the ball should be the most basic expectation for a RB or they should be told they're moving to safety or linebacker.
 
the whole covid year thing screws me up. as a redshirt jr, how many years does angeli have left to play? and then is it fair to say Collins has 1 more year than angeli?
