Steve Gregory fired by Dolphins

This is an old story I posted years ago that features Steve and the legendary Orangeyes. It is 100% true though I would not be surprised if Steve has forgotten it ever happened.

As all good stories do, it starts early in the morning in a diner...

The only downside to me would be he likely doesn't have too many HS coaching contacts for recruiting purposes. But maybe playing DB and coaching DB in the NFL is enough for it to not matter much.

I also wonder if taking a job at the same coaching position in college as he did in the NFL is a step down? Maybe not if he wants to get back into coaching college ball. If he does why not start back up at Syracuse again but this time as a safeties coach or possibly corners coach if Chip leaves.

He's from Staten Island right? Maybe he and/or his family have some interest being closer to NYC metro area.

thought it was long island but otherwise i imagine so. if I recall, he dated/married a girl from there too but I could be mixing things up. Has personality to be a great recruiter but may not want the college game now that he's been in NFL.

To most of the world, Steve Gregory is known as the guy who returned the "Butt Fumble" for a TD.

It makes a ton of sense. So it obviously won’t happen.

‘it makes a little bit of sense, not a ton. What are his recruiting contacts? Who can he get out of the portal that he established a relationship with 2-3 years ago? nobody. I thought Rob Moore was an excellent position coach at Syracuse which I now also believe his current resume backs that up, he just wasn’t much of a recruiter, he certainly wasn’t a huge fan of it either. Not every ex nfl guy wants or is cut out to kiss a kids rear end etc for him to play at their alma mater. rob hated recruiting I mean hated it

My recollection was Long Island, as well.

I think all those guys will find NFL gigs - I didn't think the Dolphin D was that bad.
Safety was a huge strength until Brandon Jones’ injury. I dont agree with this firing but I suppose I get it if McDaniel wants “his guy”.

All things considered the safeties played well, the phins just fell apart on the road.
