Steve Ishmael...

Agreed. He seems to take some hard shots. My only concern is his health long term.
This is also something one can learn to avoid/lessen as he gains experience. Some can learn to avoid taking big hits, some can't. But Ish certainly looks like he has the ability to be our next pro WR.

I agree but would not be surprised to see West get a shot as a FA and be brought in as a possession guy. I think he lost some speed when he injured his foot but he makes a nice outlet receiver for Long, he could do the same in the NFL.

He is hard worker too. Saw him at Manley in the summer working out with another unidentified player. They were doing the rope drill for improving foot speed. It was voluntary and he was hitting it pretty hard. Super nice and respectful, as you can guess by the avatar. My son idolizes him.

If Alec Lemon can't hold onto a roster spot in the NFL, West doesn't have a prayer.

It is easy to underestimate just how hard it is to make an NFL roster.

He is the BEST WR we have had come here since Mike Williams. Kid flat out is a go-to guy. With more experience he will only get better

Exactly. The NFL is VERY unforgiving of wideouts without separation speed...

Every situation is different,Alec still has a chance as he is a gamer

These injuries actually are turning out to be positives for us in a way, Ishmael, Lewis, Phillips and Long are really breaking out as players because of the injuries. Imagine how many threats we will have when everybody is back, gotta love it.

I agree, but never forget that Jerry Rice ran a 4.71 40. Plenty things that can make as big a difference as speed.

Two things, rice had game speed, not timed speed. Anqun Boldin suffered from the same problem. There are flip side guys with ridiculous timed speed and no game speed, those guys almost never make the league long term.

Rice was also quite possibly the best route runner in the history of football. He created separation better than anybody else, and was always open, speed matters, but if the corner makes a false step because you ran a perfect route, you will be plenty open enough even with average speed.

I think that is what Ishmael needs to improve on to become an NFL caliber reciever. If you watch his high school highlight film, he catches everything. If he can improve on his speed, he will dominate. I would be interested to know what his 40 time was this year. The kid seems to have the work ethic so we will see.

Fwiw, I thought we caught a break on his "fumble". Thought it was out before his knee was down..,glad we got the play off.

Think you are talking about West
