Stony brook...

IT'S AN FCS TEAM! NOT EVEN A GOOD ONE!

This isn't Delaware, or App State, or Montana, or ANYONE LIKE THAT! Want to know how often Stony Brook has been to the FCS playoffs? ONCE! LAST YEAR! WHEN BUFFALO ******* KICKED THEIR ASS!

If you are going to scream at me, atleast know what you are talking about. They are 16th in the FCS poll. So yes, they are a good FCS team. Good FCS teams can beat BCS teams.

And again, stop talking about last year. That's just stupid and rather pointless.

For the record, Delaware who you claim is a good team is 14th in the FCS poll. Montana is 12.

Which board? The board I've been reading has had a slew of people stating we could lose, listing all the NFL pro bowlers on the SB roster, how the team will be looking ahead to Minny, we don't have pugh, we are SB's whole season and they will want to knock us off, and 2 threads just on the size of SB's team.

There is much more chest pounding. Look at the prediction thread. I swear a lot of you don't pay attention to CFB. Good FCS teams beat BCS teams every freakin year. Va tech. Michigan. Pitt and Colorado just this year. We aren't playing a HS team.

Somebody needs to read this thread. Lots of chest pounding.

Chest pounding, lol. I'm stating a fact. There is no majority of people looking past SB, there are a lot of people on here nervous for this game for all the reasons that I listed. That is chest pounding how?

SB is going to be just good enough that we'll get a whole week of, hurf durf we shoulda beat em by 70 cause they're Stony Brook I never even heard of Stony Brook (drool on keyboard)

Well they did finish 16th last year as well. So I am not sure how much better than last year they are. But the same can be said about us. We were tied at 14 in the 4th Q against RI. We shouldn't take anyone lightly.

Predicting 30-40 point victories is chest pounding. Not speaking directly at you, just feels like the board is treating this like a bye. Not a bye in my opinion.

Understandable, we're saying two different things. I agree with the chest pounding part because it'll be great if it is a blowout but recent history suggests it won't and SB is no slouch. Just pointing out there has been a lot of posts and threads with people expecting that a loss isn't out of the question.

Yes we are WAY better then last year! If you can't see that then youre a blind man.

You didn't get my point. I agree. It means they can be improved Also

My girlfriends brother played quarterback for stony brook couple years ago. Cuse better not lose, my gf would never let me live it down.

They laos lost in overtime to UTEP who beat Tulane 44-7. We beat Tulane 37-34.
That is correct sir. 1st game last year UTEP 31 SB 24, which in turn lead to Vegas posting a line of SB +9.5 @ Buff the following week ...who blasted them 35-7.

The original post is valid. Stony Brook will come to play as they have nothing to lose. This is their USC game, and their players will be as amped as SU's last weekend. If SU plays as desperate for a win as they should be, then business will be taken care of. I believe they will.

Which proves that scores from games at the beginning of last year mean exactly nothing. How do you know they are going to play like they did vs. Buffalo rather than the way did vs. UTEP?

This game scares the **** outta me. Perfect spot for a letdown against a team that is better than u think.

Not a chance Marrone doesn't have these guys completely ready for this game. He understands what's at stake. One game at a time.

I love when people say stony brook has some d1 transfers. Last time I checked, we had an entire team of d1 players.

It's like in international basketball when someone says "so and so has a few former NBA players". Our team is full of NBA all stars..

Um they are currently ranked 16th. Let's not act like they are a bad 1AA team.

And why are they 16th? Based solely on what they did LAST YEAR!

So, it's okay to take their ranking (based on last year) as a sign that they are very good, but not take their huge loss against Buffalo last year as a sign that they are not good enough to knock off even the weakest FCS teams? Does this make logical sense to anyone?

And yet one of those teams almost beat our Olympic team in the finals. This Syracuse team has a lot to prove and they have to some convincing on Saturday because they were 5-7 last year and can't just flip on a switch and kick Stonys butt. Yes, this team is very improved but still not to the point where they can crush anyone yet because they have failed to be consistent throughout the game.

1a programs lose to 1aa programs a few times a year it happens definitely reason for concern

Yup. But typically it's a "trap" or "look ahead" scenario...or the entire 1A team is higher than Cali at a DNC rally

I think this team is hungry to get a win and will do everything in there power to make this a blowout.

I have to agree. The Program is 0-7 in its last 7 games, and if we start out 0-3 this year we can forget about this season's goals. Plus, the players will not want to be humiliated in front of friends and family, and will take care of business on Saturday.

I'd feel a little more confident about this game if I knew that the Stony Brook players planned to taunt the Orange during their entrance on Saturday.*

It's also based on who they have back and who they gained.

The biggest question for me is if we get up by a few touchdowns, does Marrone take the foot off the gas or keep running up the score? I hope we keep running the offense and let the chips fall as they may instead of backing off...
