SU 2011

Some things I think will happen this season:
1. Southerland and Jones won't play at all. Both talent wise are a step behind the big nine and they should really RS southerland.
2. Cooney to good of a shooter to RS..he will play in certain situations and I can see him being a factor down the stretch.
3. Jimmy will have short leash with Triche, Joseph, and to a lesser extent SCOOP. Crazy to say that but all three players as good as they are have flaws and we have real talent on the bench: MCW, waiters, CJ Fair can push them if they are struggling.
4. Melo will be most improved player in BE. Talent was there last year. He had to get in shape and he did.

Just let me say this and I say it just for fun since its pre-season. I know allot could happen.
In 2 years SU will put out the best team we have had (pre-season #1) since the coleman owens era. Yes 2 years not next year. (lol)

I dont see waiters and melo making to there senior years...next years backcourt will be good MCW and triche (waiters super 6th man) but mcw and cooney by the time they will jr's will be sick. That five just works. LOOK at that zone how long..reminds me of 2003 squad at end of season...Jimmy B's last season will be a National championship

I see what you are saying, and it does indeed look great on paper, but my concern is that MCW leaves after two yrs. - one of the few I have worried about over the yrs.

I don't know about Waiters leaving early if he is not starting his Jr. year. He could well start Jr. year, maybe even this year if one of the guards slip. That's the thing about competition and elite talent, when a team has depth it has options and Dion looks like a darned good option. For arguments sake let's say he a sixth man this year and next, if he stays and starts he could really improve his draft status.
I say take the team you mentioned and substitute Waiters for Cooney. If everyone stays healthy and plays as expected that is a good starting 5.

..Waiters will not start with his me first attitude...not going to be JB's choice. Waiters maybe the 6th man off the bench but I am not sure it stays that way if his play, like last night, continues. He has to pick his moments to shine...and he thinks every moment is his...not true

CNN (maybe ESPN) did a study on what kind of kids transfer, or leave early (the non-first round kind of leaving early).

One of the biggest indicators of leaving was # of high schools attended.

I think Dion should be on everyone's short list of leaving early after every season he is here.

Not saying he will leave early, but I think you're better off betting that he does.

I don't think MCW is going to get the HUGE superstar minuets until he is JR. Next year you still have triche and waiters on team. UNLESS Waiters leaves after this year if he is not happy with his PT. Plus his support in cousin scoop will be leaving and that coupled with not being THE MAN might push him out earlier. I hope not because he is a real talent. My advice to Dion would be to play at 75% speed in half court and the results would be better. He is always going so fast if he just slows it down a touch he would have less turnovers and forced plays. When he is on break I will say there is no guard who finishes better in the country.

first, I hope that isn't our team. There is a recruit by the name of Noel that I hope we have. Second, Southerland can't RS beause he played last night. He would have to come up with some injury. I think Trevor does red shirt. Frosh can red shirt after playing in exhibition games. Non frosh can't. JB is not going to put him in late in games to shoot 3's. That would mean taking someone out. Not jb's way.

if Southerland can't cut it in his 3rd year there is no reason to red-shirt him and have him clog up the system, just let his eligibility run out
