Dyashia Fair had an uncharacteristically poor shooting game (4/18) and only 3 assists. We had only 7 assists overall which isn’t good at all. Sounds like the comment made above about too much one on one is reflected in this stat. They really hurt us inside - Purdue having 54 points in the paint vs our 28 points. We need to tighten up that zone, move our feet, to prevent penetration.

Got disagree w/Coach on this a bit with regards to Purdue game. Lewis/Strong both in dbl figures rebounding, Purdue only had 9 O-brds, yeah we lost overall rebounding but when defense gives up 52 pts in the paint, you lose.

Agree with you. I mentioned that I was worried after seeing that Collins girl from Bucknell continuously drive right through our defense to the basket. She’s a very good player but knew we were going to see better teams, much better players as the season progressed. I couldn’t watch the Purdue game, only listen, but in the Bucknell game penetration occurred from the top of the key, past the foul line to the basket. She was getting past our guards causing a mismatch underneath - the rotations were missing or very late. Hope the defense is shored up to better protect the paint.
