we are the only team that had a bye week in week 2 and we have also had a ton of injuries this year. Was wondering if an ACC team had the same type of schedule last year and how they fared injury wise? We have also played 3 teams in ACC that were coming off their bye week. Wonder if SU has complained to ACC about the schedule? Seems the ACC has done us no favors on the football side of things.

The bye week 2 is our wn fault. We could scheduled a non-conference game that week and didn't. The teams coming off a bye week are a fluke and I am sure that will even out. We should hope the ACC doesn't schedule Clemson, Florida State, Louisville so early in the year. I wish Pitt was earlier in the year as Boston College is going to remain our Thanksgiving game for the foreseeable future.

1 in each month: fsu,Clemson and Louisville.Id prefer Louisville to be the 2nd to last game going forward over pitt which can move to October. I think fsu is going to be week 2 next year

I agree with your week 2 prediction. Made that call a while ago and have it that way on the pending 2015 schedule accordingly.

I think the ACC really likes the practice of having SU play Pitt and BC the last 2 weeks of the year. That limits the chances of an ACC team from the south having to play up north in bad weather. IMHO it isn't an accident that we have been playing Pitt in the 2nd to last week of the year and it probably will continue for a long while. That is why I have Pitt penciled in to play SU that week for the foreseeable future...

If they're going to continue this stupid idea, then they should at least break them up so that Pitt/BC are home/away for us.

Too late for this year, and next year they should both come to the Dome again. Year after that, they should make Pitt come to the Dome again to break it up. Because I like when Pitt has to keep coming to the Dome, would be 4 times in 5 years.

I also don't care for the final two games being either all-home or all-away.

Louisville isn't that far south. They finish the year with Kentucky. Move them to Pitt's slot.
That said, I also wouldn't be thrilled with a finish of Pitt, Louisville & BC. The BE is dead... keep it that way.

In the North Carolina centric ACC:

Wake Forest had a bye the week before they played Syracuse.
NC State had a bye the week before they played Syracuse.
Duke plays Syracuse at the end of their 9 straight weeks of games.

I agree. We should have a reasonable drive road trip for SU fans based in the Northeast every year. It just doesn't work well the way the rotation is now, especially with the Pitt game being played the 2nd last week of the season each year.

When the Dome is closed for a year to put a fixed roof on it, let's plan on doing it during an odd numbered year, when SU is supposed to play Pitt and BC at home.

Instead of playing Pitt in a home game that year at a somewhat local stadium like MetLife, whatever they called the Bills new stadium, etc., let's just play them in Pittsburgh (for the 2nd year in a row). Then have them play in the Dome on even years from that point forward.

If memory serves, the BC and Pitt games used to be split so only one was home in a given year. When we went to the ACC, we ended up playing Pitt at home two years in a row. This would address that and restore some balance and order to the schedule.

if we could move pit to October id be for it

Duke had the bye in week two last year and made it to the ACC Championship. They do a better job of scheduling OOC opponents that will give them four easy wins.

No they didn't.

It was a pristine schedule in terms of bye weeks. 5 games - Bye Week - 3 games - Bye Week - 4 games.

Must have Duke on the brain after watching the FH tourney going on there. You are right it was GT who had the early bye and still went 7-6. But Duke still schedules much better.
In fact Shafer was commenting on it during the show last night. Hopefully they are learning.

The ACC likes us playing Clemson, Florida State, Louisville early as we are considered an easy warmup game to boost their records. BC & Pitt at the end of November is something we are stuck with and I do not see changing.

when looking ahead to 2015 schedule I went back to the last time there was only 1 bye week to see when they scheduled byes .

byes between weeks 4 and 12 though most were scheduled for october

Any chance acc changes div this winter? Thought talk of it
have to have majority to change it currently they don't have enough to change
I think they're waiting to see if they can go to the 3-5-5 schedule before they make any decisions about changing the division make-ups. Once there's a vote at the NCAA convention about it, then they'll make some moves.

Someone told me that if we get a Bye week at the 4th or 5th week that we wouldn't get 2 Bye weeks.

So that was total BullShlit, I forget who it was.
The two Bye weeks depends on the season. Next year will only be one Bye week. Instead of the USF game being scheduled for 9/12, that date is currently open. If the ACC doesn't give us a game that week, we'll be looking at another Week 2 Bye and that would be the only Bye. Hopefully there's already plans for an ACC game that week and they advised for us to keep it open.

I think that's why a few acc teams have opponents set but no date . For week 2 I see 8 non conference games and 3 conference games with 1 of conference games being on Thursday or Friday night. Miami gets to schedule a non conference game this week since there looking at a conference game week 1

they don't have the votes to change the divisions but there also waiting for a ruling from ncaa

for those who would like to see the acc move the pitt game away from 2nd to last game I have completed 2 separate mocks of that week.

confirmed so far:
Florida State vs Chattanooga
Boston College vs Notre Dame @ fenway

Clemson vs Wofford +
Nc State Vs Eastern Kentucky+

+ (non confirmed but likely)

option a :
Syracuse @ Louisville
Pittsburgh @ Virginia Tech
Wake Forest @ North Carolina
Virginia @Miami
Georgia Tech @duke

option b:
Pittsburgh @ Syracuse
Duke @ Virginia Tech
Wake Forest @ North Carolina
Georgia Tech @ Miami
Virginia @ Louisville

I think a would be favored by the teams
