SU at UConn: (45-98) Mon Mar 23, 6 PM [NCAA 2nd Rd]

Texas beat Oregon 100-58 in the second round.

UCLA is the second best team to UConn.

South Carolina is beating USC 73-31.

I understand Coach Jack's frustration with playing UConn, but there is a big difference in the top 4 teams and the rest of the field. It wouldn't have made any difference which region we were sent to this year. We played as far as we were going to, which was a really good season.

And if they went neutral site nobody would show but UCONN fans. Why add the travel costs.

Top 4 seeds in each region get to host a weekend pod.

Sucks for SU that we were an 8/9 when UConn was a 1.

We'd have been better off as a 10 or 11 seed.

She is not wrong- why does SU always have to match up against a pro team in the second round?
The disparity between the top 4 to 8 teams and the rest of the teams us stark. Where an Iowa can beat a Florida I do not recall a top seed losing on the first weekend of the tournament. Without looking, it must have happened some time, but when. I think I will try and look that up.

1998 Harvard over 1 Stamford, so it has happened.

Pretty, pretty, pretty good...

That's not the point. Those other teams are not UConn. They make UCLA under Wooden look cute as far as dominance goes.
But, we have to stop playing our way onto the 8/9 line. Either win enough to get to the 6 or lose one more game to get on the 10 line.

listening to FLJs presser, her last remark was correct. It's clear that she is more upset for her team and what they put together this year to have the committee send them to the brick wall time and again but it sounds like it goes back to the Buffalo days too.

It's really hard to be a fan of a team on the outside when so few teams are able to get into the tent and the NCAA doesn't give a sht one way or the other.

She’s wrong. Stop complaining and field a better team. A bad look for herself and cuse.
Some of the long time UCONN fans I know, people who have gone just about every game for years, said the first half was the best half they have ever seen UCONN play. Tough running into that buzz saw.

Have to sympathize with Coach here. UConn does not just beat teams, UConn does not let them play. It is not really that much of a reward to drive 4 hours, stay in Storrs, and get run off the floor.
To fly somewhere, stay someplace different, and play someone new would be much better, for SU and womens bball generally, but the current economics just will not support that, nor will general fan support.
Good season, lets see what they can do for an encore.

one last note before I call it a night, #6 Notre Dame beat #3 Ohio State today - that = parity. Let's see how the 4 and 5 seeds match up with the 1 seeds next round. So far the 1 seeds that have played beat their opponents 40+ points, UCLA is still playing and up by 20 at the half.
