Great Win!.. Whole squad wins Hard hat award??? The difference in this game compared to several of the recent losses, was Laila Phelia's 38 points and Sophie Burrows going 7-8 from the three point range! The offensive explosion of these two players was the difference, nothing else! Another under discussed aspect of the win was the stabilizing presence that Olivia Schmidt brought to the team. She had 5 assists and , had several key steals...but the real value she delivered to the floor was...No turnovers! She needs more playing time...I have been saying that for some time now. When Dom is turning the ball over and not scoring, she needs to be subbed out for LIv. Our half court offense has been stagnant for much of the season with Dom at the point. I like Laila initiating the offense as the primary ball handler for stretches especially when the offense is struggling. With her handling the ball, her backcourt mate needs to be an outside shooting threat along with Burrows. Imagine what this offense could look like with Phelia playing close to how she played today, Sophie hitting from deep and another 3 point shooter on the floor. That shooter could be Maddy Potts.if she starts hitting her shot...or Schmidt...if she starts making her shot.

I've always loved Olivia. Plays big for her size. She can run the ball circles around the defensive players. And I did notice her assists in her limited minutes. Something both the women and men need more of.

They must have had 5 turnovers from sloppy, bad passes trying to get the ball to Uche especially in the 1st half. She has done a great job in past games corralling some bad passes and somehow using her athleticism, making something good out of them. It was just a matter of time that lazy, telegraphed overthrown passes against good teams would backfire big time. (I also think she’s still recovering from tweaking her shin against Va Tech) It was great seeing the team taking advantage of the defensive attention that Uche garners and being aggressive, sharing, valuing the ball. Fun seeing the confidence, focus and trust the team had with each other in this game. 18 of our 28 field goals were from assists. Opponents are now on notice that there are multiple great offensive weapons on this team. Congratulations to the team and coaching staff!
