I'm unclear why they have to wait till Autry is fired to announce the new AD. I guess it's cleaner that way, unless it puts us behind in any way for a HC.

Not sure what one has to do with the other. Wildhack’s decision and he is here until July 1. And as others have already noted Red already knows.

They want Wildhack to be the one to announce it and then that clears the deck for who we hope and assume is Nick to start off with that already done. If they announce it tomorrow, the press conference will be mostly questions about Red, and who will decide his fate etc. we are all impatient but it makes complete sense and I am sure the next AD is already working on Red’s successor along with JW

Sometimes the insider info can change. Which we all know happens. Seems like more than a few of our insiders were guided Mon/Tues. It's possible the contract is not finished and that is causing a delay. Perhaps Haynie had to travel and that is a delay. I think the best news is we are not seeing any "ut oh, were in trouble " posts implying something like things turned to Lyke or such. So to me it's Nick based on what people shared and there's probably just some administrative things being finalized.

If there was any question on how fans would take her appointment prior, there should not be any question now.
The Donna article was likely the last finger in the wind litmus test on that, if so... or it was and still is Carp all along...

Remember the last JB presser where he was to announce his retirement that was agreed to but he made a mess of it and the AD issued a press release the next day. So it is possible Red has been notified on his last game presser that he and the university will be "parting ways" and not answer any questions about that because "today is about the game and the players want to focus on that..." and nothing more except a press release later that day or next day confirming Red's stepping down.

Next day? I think it was on the flight back from Greensboro or wherever. I don't think they had even landed when it was announced.

I think this is a logistic, not a speed bump that derails. It gives Haynie, to whom the position reports to, the opportunity to make his first big announcement without any distraction. JW will have a statement already written (it probably already has.)

All this can happen in fairly rapid sequence... except for perhaps the last step if that team is still playing in the postseason (hopefully USF )

Here is how it will unfold from here in my opinion

All this can happen in fairly rapid sequence... except for perhaps the last step if that team is still playing in the postseason (hopefully USF )

That would be an ideal timeline if there are no complications.

But that puts the mens HC as the last decision. This obviously cannot be announced until the new coach is available so if the new coach is to be BH they have to wait till their season is over. On the other hand if it's someone else not coaching an active team, they can do it sooner.

The other thing is the portal window. That is a short window so they can't afford to delay the decision to the point the new HC has no chance to retain existing players or backfill from the portal.

Duration: The windows are 15 days, down from previous years' longer, 30-day, or 45-day windows.
Timing: The portal opens following the conclusion of the Division I Women's and Men's Final Fours, respectively.
Coaching Changes: If a head coach leaves, players have a 15-day window to enter the portal that opens five days after a new coach is hired.
Exceptions: If a new coach is not hired within 30 days of the previous coach's departure, a 15-day window opens.l
Eligibility: Student-athletes in Division I now have unlimited transfers.

I doubt Wildhack will make the announcement on a new AD. I expect the University will make the AD announcement. There will be no press conference when Red is let go. Just a press release.

My thought as well, I think it's agreed to that Red, on his last game presser, say his farewell, immediately followed by a press release from JW thanking Red for his dedication and hard work last three years. That's it.
