Huh. Interesting. He grew up in Syracuse, not far from my family’s house. I can’t imagine he wouldn’t come back. But you’re right, I don’t recall ever hearing about him being back. On the other hand, he played overseas for many many years.

It’s kind of strange that we haven’t seen Leo and Andy back together in the Dome in recent times. Leo was such a regular presence there for so many years. Did he come back for the JB ceremony against ND a couple years ago? Or when we’ve honored other legends?

Yes, that was my point. Leo comes back often if his TV schedule allows.

His mom has season football tickets, and I would have to assume basketball also. But I have sat with her at football related events. She lives in town so he still has a foothold in Syracuse.

Andy has definitely returned for some home games after he graduated.

Was shown on the scoreboard and introduced. Usually wearing a scruffy beard that made him hard to recognize.

i would think so. but some of our dobo have gone on to asst coaching careers. i think they're on the court some during practice too. but who knows, thus my question.

Yet likely still not as impactful as the '78/'79 Trans AM. We had the '79 version, T-Tops and all!

My dad worked at the Fisher Guide Plant in Salina after being transferred from the Cleveland Plant. He worked at GM for 40 years or so...took an early retirement shortly before they announced the closure. Crazy how GM at one time owned nearly 60% of total market share in the U.S.

And, don't ever say the name, Roger Smith. My dad, who's 95 today, still makes his blood boil if mentioned.

I want Blackwell on the bench, but no I wouldn’t anticipate he has the right skill set for that role over player development/NY recruiting/CNY recruiting.

GM is a new role/title due to NIL and handling agents. If you’re SU you can’t just simply run a LinkedIn search and find the pool of candidates you want as it’s a bit more nuanced. A lot of Assistants are pseudo-GMs for programs, and it takes a lot of sleuthing/back channel references/behind the scene conversations to get to the right person. Ensuring those applying are actually owning the things they’re saying they are in an interview is a lot tougher than it sounds. Better to not rush this one imo!

If Hopkins was the hire I’d personally be a bit worried, because he essentially gives you what Gmac does already (roster construction/alumni bridge)? He wouldn’t be an NIL/Agent Wrangler/Heavy analytics type that we need (imo).

I’d also rather Gerry not be influenced by MH in his chance here as HC, as much as I love MH. Optics wouldn’t be great on that hire after all the momentum Gmac’s hire just produced, because GM is going to absolutely have a say in where NIL money goes. Feels like that is a backwards step. Don’t think Blair would sign off given NIL/Optics heavy he appears to be already.

yea that was my assumption. an nba person who's not available till after the nba season. best guess for blackwell is the dobo job posted.
