Albeit, we have work to do as far as scheduling, nut we aren't the only ones out there. The field is full of anxiety on who to schedule and what are conferences going to do. Take a look at Alabama...

http://espn.go.com/college-football...on-tide-cancel-michigan-state-spartans-series

They have notta, zilch, nothing scheduled for 2016 now...and you may see many more future cancellations upcoming. Now, why they would cancel an MSU at this point is beyound me, especially if non-con games are suposed to be of such importance, but I don't like the sound of this. Looks like to me that the SEC will go to an extra game in conference, and don't feel, because they are the SEC, they have to play anybody of importance. This will impact scheduling, IMO for our AD in getting good clubs to come play here, hope I am wrong, but the future is up in the air as far as scheduling future oponents goes, that is for sure.

I honestly think having A&M come up here would sell out quicker than Alabama assuming Manziel stays around. Nothing really to do with the topic, I just wanted to say it.

A Meadowlands match if I've ever seen one unfortunately. They will need this to be played at a neutral site along with their own refs being involved.

Manziel is gone at the end of this year, heck by many he is the front runner for the Heisman again...

If the SEC, B1G, Pac-12, and Big XII all go to 9 conference games in the near future the ACC will have to step it up and go to 9 conference games as well just so it doesn't impact their standing for the College Football Playoffs.
Having 9 conference games helps our non-conference scheduling as Frasier won't have as many opening to fill.
9 conference games
1 1-AA each year we have 10 games each year right there with 5 H, 5A, or 6H, 4A off the bat.
add 1 solid B1G, SEC, Big XII team
then 1 MAC, AAC, or neutral site game with Rutgers, Penn State, or anybody at Metlife.

Based on Bama cancelling the MSU series, you definitely have to assume the SEC is going to 9 conference games. Just like on our side with FSU, Clemson, GT opposing it, I also assume Florida, South Carolina, Georgia aren't all that thrilled either. Scheduling flexibility is removed.

For Bama, they seem to like these opening game neutral site games. But it will just continue to get tougher to find an opponent when they blow the doors off whoever accepts.

The other 2 games are going to be cupcakes for these schools. And they aren't going to travel for them. So I hope UConn enjoyed their Saturday night, can't imagine it's ever going to happen again.

Forget the BCS conference teams for a second. Who are the mid-major teams who would draw the most interest? Bring the most fans? Give us the most exposure in prime recruiting areas? This is who we should be scheduling. The others will happen. Let's get on these other guys first.

To me, it starts with Army and Navy. Both usually bring a large number of fans and cadets. Both are in our prime recruiting area. Both are great academic programs, that are well respected, and tough football programs.

True, I am hoping we do go to 9 so we can see teams from the other division more frequently. We also have ND who has to play 5 games with the ACC, so we'll see them often enough. But we need marqee games at the dome, not Tulsa and Wagner as our marqee home games, ain't got time for that! We need to have that early home game with a quality foe and play one on the road in off years as well, if the ACC goes to an unbalanced schedule and if we are going to compete for a NC or large bowl game.

How many fans did Cincy bring? You have to love Ohio for recruiting , especially with this staff plus the old big east thing for a bit of interest.

Nova/Temple are nice adds as well and I'm curious on how many Nova fans would come up here in the fall but Temple doesn't fill your quota for fans.

I don't like the Dome not getting those big games, period. Especially in years where we have 5 road games in the ACC, those years we need to play a big hame at the dome. We don't have home field advantage at the meadowlands, period.

I don't disagree with you but if we were to play a neutral site game each year I wouldn't complain. I hate Metlife/Road series where we play on the road then have a home game in Metlife. If we played Penn State or Rutgers semi-annually in Metlife and didn't play each other on college campuses I would be okay with that as the Cowboys Classic, Chick Fil-A game in Atlanta, and Houston Classic are neutral site games to start seasons.
We are going to have either Clemson or Florida State at home each year. NC State or Wake Forest for our annual NC opponent at the Dome, we will have BC or Louisville at the Dome each year, Pitt or another Coastal team each year. Those are 4 solid home games each year if the ACC adds a 9th conference game we will get another Coastal team at home each 2 years. Our non-conference scheduling will be 3 games with a 9 game conference having one as a 1-AA is a given to give us an automatic home game that is 10 games. I would make the 11th a home/home with a BCS conference school and use the 12th game as my neutral site idea or get another non-BCS team in a home/home arrangement that is the perfect schedule for a team like Syracuse.

Metlife has proven to be a failure, but Gross will never admit it. It does not help with recruiting, and in fact probably hurts us. All that happens is we lose and out crowd is pathetic. Imagine if USC an Penn State were in the dome? 45k easily.

There is all this talk about how bar our attendance is, but you can be sure if we had USC to open at home instead of Wagner, season ticket sales would be much much better.

Penn State did play in the Dome in 2008

I am ok with that except for one thing. For the Dome to be respected again and a house of horrors we need to provide an exciting home slate to bring in the fans, those early games in the season against teams like USC are huge for recruiting and exposure. The two games I watched this year at the Dome, fan wise, was an embarressment, period. The place looks empty with less than 40K (May I remind you 36K/Tulane, 33K/Wagner) and not something we want exposure for. Kids who traveled in on unofficials have nothing to be excited for these type matchups. They look up and see a half empty stadium and say why is it I want to come here? Same with Metlife...70 K there yet only maybe 20 K were for SU? Aren't we NY's College Football team? Where is the fans? In a nut shell, if a kid was interested and wanted to make his choice by september, what he saw this year was a half empty stadium on TV or a PSU home game away from home at NY (OK meadowlands), and a NW game that had a packed house of purple to watch them beat our Orange...I just am not seeing the benefit playing at the meadowlands. Yankee Stadium, I may change my mind, but that ain't happening in September or October.

I hate the Metlife games but sadly they aren't going away.

Much rather have Alabama than A&M.

Above all I want Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Tennessee, Florida or Auburn.

God damn I want Auburn.

Except for the outcome on the field, the Metlife games have been fun from this fan's perspective. I enjoy the ability to drive to it. I could do an out-and-back if I wanted but I get a room. The hotels are close to the stadium. The stadium is great, particularly if you get seats with club access. I had a great time the last 2 years. I have season tickets and usually go to at least one away game per year (2 if you include Metlife). To me, the Metlife games have been good experiences.

I agree but to me it opened pandora's box and every big school will want to do it instead of playing us in the Dome which by the way I truly we have a better chance to win than in jersey. If we beat Clemson, no one is going to want to come up here and play.

Clemson is part of the ACC. The good ACC teams won't have a choice. Just because we have had some games at Metlife does not mean we have to play every good OOC team there. We can tell them we play them at home (with equal time at each school) or we don't play them. I really don't think what we have done at Metlife has any influence except the positive that a team that might not have played us at all home and home might agree to a home and home and neutral (Metlife) like PSU did. The Metlife games are also about getting exposure in NYC (alumni, TV) and I think, while not wildly successful, it has been ok in that regard too.

this is very well said. these Metlife games have unfortunately done nothing for the program. It doesnt make the vast majority of fans happy, it maks us look bad to recruits on national TV, and it s starts us 0-1 every year.

What if we did it and started out 1-0 every year?

I understand the ACC. My point is there is no reason why a Michigan/Ohio S/Bama/Texas/OU will ever play a game at the dome. That window is gone imo.

Maybe...but I don't know why that really has anything to do with Metlife simply because SU has made some deals before. I really think that if Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, and Oklahoma don't want to play SU in the dome, they won't. And if SU wants to play them in the dome and not Metlife, they won't be playing at Metlife. They are not handcuffed.

I hope you're right xc but I really feel that SU has opened that Metlife door and it ain't closing. Too many big schools are scheduling a CYA type of schedule and making sure they can put their schools in the best chance situation to win. I can deal with a 1-1-1 but that still gives the other school the advantage 2 out of 3 times.

This is exactly it, Yankee stadium is easy to get to from the city Met Life Stadium (when the giants/jets aren't playing) is difficult to get to from the city, Met life stadium does not run all the same transportation options that they do for the NFL and it makes it a problem.
