It's no wonder that the staff thought the 2002 team would actually be better than the 2001 team.

I recall Chris Rippon indicating before 2001 that the team would be very good the following year.

Both Wyche and LaCasse were athletic DEs - the presumption I guess was that they could replace Freeney.

Obviously they could not.

most defensive ends don't have to run 40 yards to sack a QB unless that QB is troy nunez

I would like to see these numbers for the last 10 sack leaders and defensive players of the year among defensive lineman to see how they correlate. JJ Watt's presence seems to show 40 speed is overrated.
