with it's schedule:

I know this has been gone over but it really is ridculous. SU may be overscheduled but other than South Florida and Pitt at the top holy cow, what a bunch of .

SU Sfla Lville Pitt Uconn Temple Cinci Rutgers
USC FSU UNC ND NCSt PSU VT Ark
NW Miami Smiss VT Md Md Toledo Army
Missouri Ball St UK UB West Mich Army Miami Oh Kent St
Minny Nevada FIU YST UB Nova Fordham Tulane
SUNY SB UT-Chatt Missouri St. Gwebb Umass Del St Howard

Look up Miss St, Mississippi, Georgia, Bama, Oregon, Ohio State, Wisconsin and scores of other schools OOC. Play one big game and if you play it smart that's what people remember. Hell, Florida still hasn't left Florida since we kicked their butt in 91.

It is balanced out with the in conference games compared to other conferences. As to comparison to other BE teams, the OOC games don't play a role in conference standings.

I don't know if you are replying to me, but in the battle for bowl spots, it makes a difference.

Teams like Rutgers, UConn, Temple etc have no reason to play big OOC games. They know they have zero shot at a title all they care about is getting as many home games as possible and getting bowl eligbile.

Next year we have 4 OOC games. Penn State neutral, NW away, Tulane home and TBD. If TBD isn't FCS (until they are banned someday) or MAC/Sun Belt/CUSA in the Dome then we are nuts.

Actually they can. If you can play the Howards and UMass type teams you can rest your starters and the bench players get some game time play. By playing strong OOC teams you get beat up and not only that but can lose confidence as well. Again, this isn't a 100% kind of thing and can be argued that it helps you get ready for conference play by playing top flight competition.

Is Tulane confirmed? I am pretty sure we are playing an FCS next year.

It seems that private schools schedule OOC a lot harder than the state schools and it does decrease the chances of a bowl. I just don't see the logic in it

It's listed that way on the Athletic Dept.'s website.

They still need an FCS to get to 6 home games, 1 neutral, 5 away. And that assumes that Tulane doesn't shut their program down before then.

Sounds good to me, this team can use a game where it can play youngsters and try some new things.

Battle with whom?

There was an article about it last week, basically assuming Tulane was locked in, now they are in discussions because a 4th game has now opened up with the ACC 9 to 8 switch.

Problem is, I think PSU and NW are locked in dates as games 1 and 2.

Damn the choices: @NW seems like a no brainer for the Fine Mess away tailgate...but me thinks away in VA or NC might be nice too. I see a good thread in late Feb/early Mar discussing.

When is the last time we rested our starters?

For years now we on all these other teams with light schedules, yet I don't see where those grips matter anywhere other than this message board. Teams do it, win and go to bowls. Whereas we don't and talk about "next year's WR depth" and "this QB recruit is finally the one."

When is the last time we rested our starters?

It has been a long long time since we've seen the backups (guys not in starting rotation) get some decent playing time.

When was the last time the back-up qb got meaningful snaps?

Probably Keith Downing after McNabb was beating Rutgers or Temple 50-3.

Bingo.

We play in the weakest conference.

No excuses. Get to 6 wins.

[EDIT: Weakest BCS Conferencee]

I like that Syracuse schedules tough.

We just need to win more of these games, though

As I thought about it, Nassib had a package they worked in when Paulus was the starter. Usually 1 or 2 series per game.

Selfish vote for at Northwestern, please!

The last time we pulled the starters was Colgate 2010. Loeb got some run that day, albeit not a lot.
