SU Looking To Hire A Brand Person

Our current uniform approach doesn't have a strong connection to SU, doesn't have a strong connection to our past wins, doesn't have a strong outlook for having a connection to future teams, and looks awful in the eyes of a significant chunk of our fan base.

Given that many kids play because they want to be the next "____," or because they want to be remembered, an inability to create a nexus to both the future and the past is a problem.

The other two points (connection to SU and looking awful) are self explanatory.

Based on the above, we absolutely have a branding problem that is rooted in Nike's consistent inability to make a football jersey that doesn't look like a joke, and that branding problem impacts both wins and $$$$'s.

I like the uniforms. Clean lines and detail that pops. They're different. And that's been this region and University's calling card for generations: this is Syracuse, we do things our way.

We also complain alot and choose to be miserable. So don't worry, the uniforms will suck until the day the last one of you miserable old farts dies. Only then will Nike finally get a competent person to design SU's uniforms and they'll be awesome. They'll look just like the ones from the glory days but be even better for some reason.

Which uniforms are you even talking about? I honestly couldn’t even tell anyone what uniforms we wear because it seems to change on a weekly basis. Some combinations work better than others.

IMO:
1. Establish some consistency. Maybe have a consistent home, away, and ONE special alternate uni? Just a crazy thought.

2. The all grey look probably doesn’t bring to mind “Syracuse” for anyone in the country that’s watching. When I, a diehard Syracuse fan who watches every game, often have to get my bearings at the beginning of a game just to figure out which team is Syracuse...that’s not good.

3. Can we at least make the helmets primarily our classic Orange and leave them alone?

I'm just glad that I have working eyes.

Our uniforms are almost uniformly seen as awful (see RandomGuy's link), which to the above poster's point, is pretty remarkable, given that we go through uniforms like toilet paper on taco night (see OrangeDW's post).

And if the above travesty wasn't tragic enough, it's made doubly so, given that we used to have some of the best-looking uniforms around (see RandomGuy's link).
