SU might play Jersey State twice????

Once is plenty. I am surprised there is no lawsuit angle for SU against the BE brass for creating the cluster that is forcing these things.

Disagree Mr. Mark if they can't find a replacement all football schools should be free to find another opponent if they can and want too. If I am SU I try to help out a future conference brother and if we can't play at WVU then go and play at Florida State who needs a home game because of WVU screwing them. We could play at FSU on October 6 and the ACC could move Wake@FSU from Oct. 6 to Sept 8th and SU@FSU to Oct.6th. I would rather get some goodwill with the ACC rather than play RU twice.

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We should be doing nothing whatsoever to help the BE or any of the leftovers (especially Joker State) in any way shape or form going forward. Badass Marinara wants to hold our feet to the fire then fine. Piss off douchbag.

Help the ACC. That's our future.

I'm thinking the extra game would be a non counter for league play. Not sure how else you could keep it equitible.
That was what the original article stated, re: our possible extra game with Rutgers. The "regular" game @RUT would be the only one that counted in league standings.

This is officially the worst idea I have ever heard. I can only imagine the conversation in the Big East offices on this topic. "What was the worst game of the year last year?" "Rutgers and Syracuse. It was like watching two old, fat people making a porno, only over three hours long. It made me want to claw out my own eyes." "Hows about we make them play twice next year?" "Sure. Why not?"

Post of the year. Why not simply move all the home games to NYC?

This is not to replace a home game. It's to replace an away game that was supposed to be in WV. Now, I am not in favor of playing Rutgers twice... but fans having to traveling to NYC is a heck of a lot better trip than Morgantown (site of the worst road game trips I've ever taken.)

This conference is a joke. I hope that WVU gets out and that allows us to bolt (but i doubt it). Playing Rutgers twice and once in Yankee Stadium is a joke. This is COLLEGE football not the NFL. If there were not already a game in NYC this year, I could understand playing a game in NYC but we already play USC in NJ. Taking two games away from the dome is horrible, esp when it is our biggest football rivalry and our best OOC opponent. We struggle to sell tickets as it is, taking away two big draws is just plain dumb. I understand that we want to be NY's team but taking away a home field advantage to play pretty much at a neutral site is just not strategically smart.

I can not wait to be in the ACC (for football). Hopefully ND will discover that independence is undoable in the current college landscape and they join ship. Then in my dreams ACC gets PSU but realistically we get UCONN which is still fine.

That is why instead of playing RU @YS just go play @FSU. FSU and WVU will both be top 10 teams next year anyway and help a conference brother out. Consider it ouR paying the dues moment for ACC membership it can't be that much cheaper to play at WVU than at FSU. If anybody has a handle on any FSU board bring this suggestion up, Move Wake@FSU from Oct. 6 to Sept. 8 and SU@FSU to Oct. 6th and everyone is fine. Basically we swapped @WVU for @FSU then we get FSU at the Dome our first year in the ACC in 2013.

Here's what's in the article:
"The Big East is hastily preparing for the possible departure of West Virginia with contingency plans that would allow league rivals to play Big East opponent twice this season, once as a non-conference game, to fill the late scheduling voids."

Now, if that's all it is, I'm fine with it. Let the schools in the league discuss among themselves who they'll play and where. If some schools can fill their schedules without doubling up, thats fine - this would just be an option to use if needed. But if the BE is assigning these non-conference games and venues to its members, I have a major problem with that. The article alludes that there are multiple plans floating around and only mentions the SU-RU option - anyone seen a link with more information?

More importantly, is there any confirmation of this quote:
"Syracuse and Pittsburgh, both bound for the ACC, are unable to follow suit immediately because the ACC football schedule has been set already for next season. "

Last I saw, no one had thrown in the towel on a 2012 move yet (but most are in the windup).

That doesn't help. Syracuse needs 2 more games. There's a way to get there and I trust, err, hope that the scheduling dept at Manley is working on them. It may already be lined up, but is conditional on Syracuse not making the jump to the ACC in 2012.

If SU remains in the Big East we have as follows
H-Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Stony Brook, and Northwestern
A- Rutgers, South Florida, Minnesota
N- USC
If we subbed @WVU for @Florida State all we would need is 1 more game which isn't as hard as finding 2 games. I doubt TGD has been able to schedule the @WVU game because he had no clue how it would be resolved my solution is basically make good with an ACC team for WVU screwing them.

Agree that if this is up to the schools as a last ditch measure to get to 11 games, fine. But if the Marionette is mandating this, then piss off.

Great, let's play Pitt our future conference mate twice. Make the away game in Philly or Cleveland. Done.

Why would we play the second game at YS?? Our home field is the Carrier Dome its bad enough we play every half decent OOC team in Nj, enough is enough.

I figure the logic is...we would get the home game in 2013. Basically this is a one time ClusterFluck. Remember neither team is losing a home game in this...we both gain a neutral game.

Mark where are they going to play the 2nd Cincy-Louisville game, or UConn-Pitt game or whomever has to play USF twice. Its not far to SU if your going to force 2 games against an opponent neither is in the Carrier Dome. I would be SUPER ticked off at Dr. Gross if he allowed this we already have the NYC game at Metlife against USC.

Actually, at this late date, it's easier to find two attractive games than to go to FSU and find an attractive home game (hint: everybody's shopping for a home game).

There's already an FCS game scheduled for the Dome. Buy another and ticket sales will suffer.

I've mentioned this several times now, so I'll stop.

It's easier to find 2 attractive games than 1? That makes no sense at all we already have 5 home games with Stony Brook and 1 quasi-home game at Metlife vs USC. We only have 4 road games scheduled how does subbing @WVU for @FSU do any harm to us? We would be giving a future conference brother help and wouldn't be harming ourselves at ALL. We were scheduled to play @WVU now that it is gone we can afford to do the exchange with FSU and then still only have to find 1 home game and be done with the schedule rather than have to find 2 games.

You're clearly not in the scheduling business. Look back to 2004 for an example of what can be done.

I get the Cincinnati coming to the Dome and us going to Purdue, but that is 1 game. That is a lot harder to do scheduling 2 games than 1 game. We only have 10 games scheduled without WVU if we took at FSU we would have 11 games and then for the 12th we could do musical chairs, but if its easier to do that 2 times rather than 1 time that makes as I said absolutely no sense at all.

Count again, that's 2 games.

Marinatto is trying his hardest to make Rutgers "New York's Team". And he will fail miserably, especially when Fordham joins the BE.

I'd hope that FSU would lend a future conference school a hand here and if they did I don't care if SU played Lemoyne's club rugby team for the 12th game, let's get a schedule for 2012 and make sure we're out of this hell hole and in the ACC for 2013.

im holding off on season tickets till they figure out What is going on-

if we do play joisey state twice i dont think ill buy-

just pony up the dam money and lets get the #$^ outta dodge
