Disagree Mr. Mark if they can't find a replacement all football schools should be free to find another opponent if they can and want too. If I am SU I try to help out a future conference brother and if we can't play at WVU then go and play at Florida State who needs a home game because of WVU screwing them. We could play at FSU on October 6 and the ACC could move Wake@FSU from Oct. 6 to Sept 8th and SU@FSU to Oct.6th. I would rather get some goodwill with the ACC rather than play RU twice.
That was what the original article stated, re: our possible extra game with Rutgers. The "regular" game @RUT would be the only one that counted in league standings.I'm thinking the extra game would be a non counter for league play. Not sure how else you could keep it equitible.
This is officially the worst idea I have ever heard. I can only imagine the conversation in the Big East offices on this topic. "What was the worst game of the year last year?" "Rutgers and Syracuse. It was like watching two old, fat people making a porno, only over three hours long. It made me want to claw out my own eyes." "Hows about we make them play twice next year?" "Sure. Why not?"
Post of the year. Why not simply move all the home games to NYC?
This is not to replace a home game. It's to replace an away game that was supposed to be in WV. Now, I am not in favor of playing Rutgers twice... but fans having to traveling to NYC is a heck of a lot better trip than Morgantown (site of the worst road game trips I've ever taken.)Post of the year. That doesn't help. Syracuse needs 2 more games. There's a way to get there and I trust, err, hope that the scheduling dept at Manley is working on them. It may already be lined up, but is conditional on Syracuse not making the jump to the ACC in 2012.That is why instead of playing RU @YS just go play @FSU. FSU and WVU will both be top 10 teams next year anyway and help a conference brother out. Consider it out paying the dues moment for ACC membership it can't be that much cheaper to play at WVU than at FSU.
If SU remains in the Big East we have as followsThat doesn't help. Syracuse needs 2 more games. There's a way to get there and I trust, err, hope that the scheduling dept at Manley is working on them. It may already be lined up, but is conditional on Syracuse not making the jump to the ACC in 2012.
Why would we play the second game at YS?? Our home field is the Carrier Dome its bad enough we play every half decent OOC team in Nj, enough is enough.
Mark where are they going to play the 2nd Cincy-Louisville game, or UConn-Pitt game or whomever has to play USF twice. Its not far to SU if your going to force 2 games against an opponent neither is in the Carrier Dome. I would be SUPER ticked off at Dr. Gross if he allowed this we already have the NYC game at Metlife against USC.I figure the logic is...we would get the home game in 2013. Basically this is a one time ClusterFluck. Remember neither team is losing a home game in this...we both gain a neutral game.
Actually, at this late date, it's easier to find two attractive games than to go to FSU and find an attractive home game (hint: everybody's shopping for a home game). If we subbed @WVU for @Florida State all we would need is 1 more game which isn't as hard as finding 2 games.
It's easier to find 2 attractive games than 1? That makes no sense at all we already have 5 home games with Stony Brook and 1 quasi-home game at Metlife vs USC. We only have 4 road games scheduled how does subbing @WVU for @FSU do any harm to us? We would be giving a future conference brother help and wouldn't be harming ourselves at ALL. We were scheduled to play @WVU now that it is gone we can afford to do the exchange with FSU and then still only have to find 1 home game and be done with the schedule rather than have to find 2 games.Actually, at this late date, it's easier to find two attractive games than to go to FSU and find an attractive home game (hint: everybody's shopping for a home game).
There's already an FCS game scheduled for the Dome. Buy another and ticket sales will suffer.
I've mentioned this several times now, so I'll stop.
You're clearly not in the scheduling business. Look back to 2004 for an example of what can be done. It's easier to find 2 attractive games than 1? That makes no sense at all
I get the Cincinnati coming to the Dome and us going to Purdue, but that is 1 game. That is a lot harder to do scheduling 2 games than 1 game. We only have 10 games scheduled without WVU if we took at FSU we would have 11 games and then for the 12th we could do musical chairs, but if its easier to do that 2 times rather than 1 time that makes as I said absolutely no sense at all. You're clearly not in the scheduling business. Look back to 2004 for an example of what can be done.
Count again, that's 2 games.I get the Cincinnati coming to the Dome and us going to Purdue, but that is 1 game.
The WVU game was an away game.
If SU remains in the Big East we have as follows
H-Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Stony Brook, and Northwestern
A- Rutgers, South Florida, Minnesota
N- USC
If we subbed @WVU for @Florida State all we would need is 1 more game which isn't as hard as finding 2 games. I doubt TGD has been able to schedule the @WVU game because he had no clue how it would be resolved my solution is basically make good with an ACC team for WVU screwing them.
Right, which is why they're proposing the "extra" game as a neutral site one. We're already scheduled for @Rutgers.So was Rutgers game vs. WVU.
