SU opens -13.5 over Providence...

We really need to wipe these guys off the floor...just came back from Providence Board ... generally very pessimistic and rightfully so. What (or who) pisses me off is some dude Classof29 (actually Classless of 29) who has proposed bringing LF bigheads to the game. If that happens ... no walk-ons JB!!! Kick these kids butts by 50!!

LF big head? Isn't that redundant?

I've got SU-13 1/2 ... what intrigues me more is Xavier only -2 1/2 over Lasalle. GTown/Marquette game looks like a good one with GTown -4 1/2. Like to see Marquette win here so they will be down coming into SU on Saturday. We really need to knock those guysinto next Sunday

Normally id be worried about playing at providence, even in 2010 they gave us a tough game there. But i cant get past the fact that st johns ran them off the court, and st johns suuuuuuuuuuux this year. If the johnnies can drop 91 on them we should drop a hundy! Unless they just go bonkers from 3 again like they did 2 years ago to stay in it ill be surprised if we're not up 20 at halftime.
They really have noone this year that can consistently shoot the 3 ... we'll kill them inside. Melo may break his own record for blocked shots. SU by 20+

I was always told that the smart, and sometimes big, money bets either early or late and sometimes both.

The SMART money doesn't bet.

everywhere in the world is a home venue for SU ... if its in a state that touches NY its a home game (venue) ...if its in a state that borders a state that touches NY its a home game...if its in a state that borders a state that borders a state that touches NY its a home game ... etc. Same as if its in a country that borders a state in the US that borders a state, etc. its a home game ... and so forth ad nauseum. I'm still trying to figure out Hawaii... maybe if its in a body of water that borders a state, etc.

Updated with yesterdays results and a few tweaks to the model, I have SU at 63% to cover at -13.5

I'll be happy to win by 1, don't feel good about not having Keita to back up Melo. Christmas was pathetic against Depaul in the second half and if Melo picks up fouls or gets tired can't depend on Christmas. Christmas right now belongs at forward with either Melo Or Keita playing center.

Lets be 100% honest. Christmas has no business playing right now. I know we all expect great things, but he is doing very little that is positive. How many times can a guy miss/fumble a pass? Be out of position for rebounds? Be out of position in the zone? He will see no more than 2 minutes in challenging games this season.

My oh My ... I remember hearing similar things last year from many people ... about one Fab Melo.

A couple of comments. First, some of us have been dying for JB to play more people. This is him doing it. I love it.

Reasons for X-Mas to play:
1. Development. Look how it helped Fab. Let's hope the same improvement can come out of this. Also lets not write him off this season. He's a frosh, he could start improving now.
2. Rotation depth. It's great to have 8 play significant minutes. He might not play a lot if his play doesn't pick up, but starting minutes are significant minutes.
3. Recruiting. He's a signature recruit getting a token start. Most people see that. Yet every other McD probably sees themselves doing significantly more with the opportunity.
4. This one is a little different. But you don't spend multiple, uninterrupted, years in the top 5 if the pollsters don't know your returning starters. It's greedy but I would like to go coast to coast top 5 this year and then repeat it next year. Years ago, JB would play the top 5 as much as possible. Good players, but not top 5, might not get much time. Then the year when they were taking over, SU would take a dip in the polls because voters had never heard of these guys.

If I see a Laurie Fine bighead at the game I'm probably going to get arrested.
