SU opens -15.5 over Seton Hall...

my god that is a lot of points. I guessed 11.5 yesterday and thought that was high.

Too many points.

No mercy for the Hall. Some nasty fans. As with Rutgers it is probably the NJ influence I have some good friends in NJ but otherwise it's an undeordorized armpit.

I remember you and I jumped on SkanSu for saying it would open around -7. Little did we know it would be more than double that

Man, take The Hall and the points on this one, people who would gamble if gambling was legal.

I don't gamble, I invest in spreads that show HUGE value. :)

I watched them play the other night. To me they looked like a high school team. Also, their 11-1 record is not that impressive if you look at their schedule.

I would count VCU, Auburn & Wake as decent wins.

Last year they came into the Carrier Dome at 8-11 and undressed us 90-68. We were the 9/10th ranked team in the nation with an 18 & 2 record. It was our third Big East loss in a row.

The Pirates shot 7 for 7 out of the gates and scored the first seven in the second half.

Hazell had 28 as the Pirates shot 54% from the field and 59% from three.

Willard & his crew had our number.

Here are the game notes for tomorrow

Vegas they are trying to drive people to bet Seton Hall watch SU run them out of the Gym. I always tell myself when I want to put more money down on a bet then I should...Vegas wasn't built off of winners. Simple but it works every time.

I have been working on a model to judge spreads all year based on Pomeroy and Sagarin. I have SU 54% to cover. Teams in the 14, 15, 16 spread range have been on average overperforming by about a half point so far this year. I reserve my betting to when the likelihood of covering goes over 60% though.

Vegas is driven by bets though. That #1 ranking tends to have more effect on better's decisions than it should. People betting heavily on SU will influence their spread, and people are generally stupid. No offense, humanity, but its true!

Seems like a high number, but Pomeroy has the game at 16.

We will blow them out! It will be way more than the spread.

Well said

Good point. But, it still looks like a trap game to me.

seriously. I am stunned.

Wisconsin at -8.5 is a steal right now. I have them 72% to cover.

Small sample size for your program, but you and I may form a very special relationship. Lol. Good call tonight.

Didn't we shave points against these guys last year? ;)

Thanks. It was a middling day for the model, but only a few games. I only bet on Wisconsin because I was busy and didn't have time to punch up all of the games.

I had:

Notre Dame +3 64%
Minnesota +6 61% (in fairness they covered in regulation, haha)
Providence +3 61%

I may have ended up going with the money lines for both ND and Prov, they had slightly better payouts.

Mine has SU -151/2 as well ... Lordy.SH is better than that.
