SU opens +7 vs UNC

The game after the Clemson game:

22: 41-24 L vs ND
21: 41-36 W @VT
20: 38-14 L vs WF
19: 52-33 W vs WMU (what a weird schedule that year)
18: 44-37 L @Pitt in OT
17: 27-19 L @Miami

Completely against what I thought. I figured there would be a trend of a letdown but there's a couple wins in there and a couple close losses. Last year obviously stunk and 2020 was just a terrible year.

UNC always favored by a TD. I really like this spot for us. Said it in Clemson betting thread but will say it again: UNC subpar defense, Cuse offensive bounce back, shrader homecoming, lots of Orange fans living in the Carolina’s and Virginia coming. LGO take the points and the ML

The thing that stands out withNC is there speed on both sides of the ball.

It’s -8.5 and -9.5 at a couple books already

Good.

It’s not their fault.
They didn’t know.

UNC’s D is - not awesome.
We can score on them.
Need the WR’s to make catches, instead of being thiiiiis close to being inbounds.

Will need the MOB to step up and actually make those big plays, instead of being thiiiiiiis close to making them.

Yes this is a tough one. I'm getting a weird feeling like I had for Clemson, so would take UNC up to -12. Really hope I'm wrong.

NC’s defense is getting a bad wrap, but they are really fast on the line and linebacker spots. Much better than last year. They have beat some solid teams and you don’t do that if you don’t defend. I saw them against USC and thought there defense looked pretty good. There defense only has to be average if our offense plays like it did on Saturday. NC is also home. Their offense is also much better than Clemson. Unless they turn it over, I don’t think SU can score enough to win.

I think this is the “Notre Dame” of last year. Shrader might be banged up. Clemson gave us our first loss.

We’ll score some points and hang with them in stretches but probably can’t keep up on their field.

FSU - probably just like FSU last year.

Think we can rebound and beat Wake and hopefully Pitt this year, and BC again.

Really gotta have VT and GT on the road. We clearly look like the better team than both of them at this point. Hopefully that’s still the case come November.

Yeah, and they’ve not only beat some decent teams, they’ve beaten them soundly. Pitt, Minnesota, and SC, all by 14-18 points.

Kinda what I’m expecting here - like a 38-24 type game.

Ilike the over on that trend.

SU’s offensive performance wasn’t in a vacuum. It was caused.

Sharps being on UNC pushing the line to -9 doesn’t make me feel great, but still think we have a shot. I thought big $ would be on Cuse and public on UNC

UNC coming off the bye week...at their place is a tall order.
IF THIS TEAM is like last year's, we get thumped by 3 scores.
But if CUSE is competitive, it shows a definite level of improvement
by the program...coaching, depth, skill.
I look for UNC to start fast...score on their first 2 drives.
HOW do the ORANGE respond? Halftime scoreboard will tell the story.

Note: Clemson still not ranked.
I was wrong, they trended down after a win over another team with votes, clearly the media has very little respect for Syracuse

I hope we don’t see as many straight 3 man rushes. Maye hasn’t quite been as impressive as everyone thought he would be this year, but if you give him 10 seconds he’s going to gash you (obviously). Hopefully Rocky dials up a lot of exotic looks and sends pressure from everywhere, I still think this is a winnable game. While I don’t think UNCs defense is as poor as some are making it out to be I do think we can have consistent success as long as we limit the self inflicted mistakes.

Agreed. I think while UNC is winnable it’s a tough matchup on the road and I just can’t talk myself into at FSU at all. Besides that I think we can win every game left on the schedule and I think going into every one of those games I’m going to be expecting a win.

maybe.. but did you watch any of the games?

Minn is lucky to not be 1-4. it was a 1 score game right before the 4th quarter started.

App st had tons of chances to beat them.

UNC and Pitt both played poorly most of the game and it was a 1 score game right before the 4th quarter Pitts QB went out and the backup played even worse and threw 2 picks to give them no chance

I do think they pose a different issue. They can explode on offense. We need to keep them 1 dimensional for sure.
