I live in Cville and am a season-ticket holder so will definitely be at the game. This is going to be a tough game for us. UVa's is really tough at the John. Their 3 toughest games at home last year was against Duke, UNC and NC State, and UVa won all of them. And this year they should be a lot better. I still think we will win it, but it'll be a hard fought game.
A couple interesting points about this matchup. Both teams will be run by new PGs. Jontel Evans graduated last year, so look for either one of the two incoming freshmen PGs or, more likely, their' 6'5 SG Malcolm Brogdon, who missed all of last year with an injury, to be running things. This game will also feature in my opinion 2 of the 5 deepest teams in the country, and 2 of the 5 best frontcourts in the country. C Mike Tobey showed unusually developed offensive skills for a freshman big man last year and could end up being the best center in the ACC. Akil Mitchell is a double-double machine at PF. Antony Gill is a 6'8 transfer who's game is similar to CJ's and supposedly was their best player in practice last year. Evan Nolte is a 6'8 who shoots 35-40% from 3. And the 6'5 Joe Harris and the 6'5 Justin Anderson will get minutes at SF. Harris is a frontrunning along with CJ for ACC POY, and last year the freshman Anderson was UVa's best player by March. We'll have our hands full.
I expect the first and second all ACC teams will be dominated by Syracuse, Duke, and UVa players. This is going to be a hell of a game. But on the upside, Syracuse is 1-0 when I'm in attendance at the John! I was at the game when Jonny Flynn, Donte Green and company came to town. We whipped them!
