While Johnson said he’s at the point that he looks at himself as a college freshman, ninth-grader Isaiah Briscoe has matured consideredly after being pushed into the spotlight because of an injury to Bees all-star point guard Tyler Ennis.
The 6-foot-3 guard had 13 points in the win over the Eagles, scoring six in the first quarter and five more in the fourth. He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists.
Briscoe was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
“I try to put myself in the seniors’ place and act like it’s my last couple games,”said Briscoe, whose foul shots in the fourth quarter helped seal the win over John Carroll on Thursday. “It feels good to be able to help them finish the season strong.”
