Oh Canada you were so very good to us when you sent us eventual 3rd team All-American pitcher Jen Caira. Jen authored two no-hitters in her senior season, led us to the NCAA's, pitched a 1-0 gem against Arizona State in the NCAA's and ended up in the top 65 all-time strikeout leaders surpassing Jennie Finch on the list.
The next Canadian pitcher to take the mound for SU will be Washington transfer Jocelyn Cater, a tall left hander who should pitch major innings for SU.
Also returning is junior Lindsay Taylor, who before suffering an injury, which ended up nagging her all season, was SU's number one pitcher last year. Another new pitching addition will be freshman Christina Clermont from California. CNY Athelete of the Year, CNS star, Sydney O' Hara will probably primarily play the outfield but could pick up some innings as she was throwing the ball 66 mph in high school. She has a lot of power, very quick wrists so she will be a welcomed left handed bat in the lineup.
Look for power-hitting sophomore Corinne Ozanne to slide over to SS from 3rd to take over for the graduated slick fielding Morgan Nandin. The class of 2014 already has a commitment from a stud shortstop named Samantha Fernandez from downstate.
The catching spot is open for grabs with freshmen Nicole Lundstrom and Alyssa Dewes vying for the spot. Julie Wambold did some spot duty there last year but she'll probably remain in her normal spot in the outfield along with senior Shirley Daniels and O' Hara.
The fall schedule should be out soon and there are usually a very limited number of games.
Stop up to the stadium and watch the Lady Orange, they compete at a high level and are fun to watch.
