Hope everyone got home safely. Those roads were treacherous.
Unfortunately, I’m not surprised. The team has better talent than last year but far from being real competitive in ACC play. Honestly, I’m not sure we have the coaching to get us back right now. I hope I am wrong.Biggest game of year………no show. Very disappointing
Isn’t it the same as in football when the 10k casuals show up for a big game after a good start beating up on cupcakes (5-1, 4-0, etc) only for the team to lay and egg and the fans to never return? Seems to happen all the time with this schoolthis is a good sign
that does seem to happen a lot with football, some momentum, the crowd shows out and then the balloon burstsIsn’t it the same as in football when the 10k casuals show up for a big game after a good start beating up on cupcakes (5-1, 4-0, etc) only for the team to lay and egg and the fans to never return? Stop with this blaming "Coaching"...Where is all of this we need new Coaches Shizit coming from? Syracuse has some of the least informed, out of touch, unrealistic fans on the planet. Coach Jack...or Coach Fran...or Coach Red....I haven't been on the Lacrosse Board, so, I don't know what the talk is about Coach Gait, are not the problem....lack of talent is the difference between Us ...and Them.Unfortunately, I’m not surprised. i think the success of the half court transition passes is dependent on the passer and the target. Uche has been good as the target but I imagine the better teams will be aware and be more proactive defending it.Sophie is doing so much more this season defensively with the hustle and boards and scrapping and assists. Noticeable improvement in cardio. When her shot starts falling they'll roll off some Ws.
I know they want to go fast, but it leads to a LOT of sloppy play, turnovers, rushed shots and consecutive empty possessions. The 3/4 court home run balls drive me nuts. Must be <20% success rate with those. I mean, the stats guy or gal has to charting that, right?
Rhcuse: I partially agree with your statement on fast play. Yes it does lead to some sloppy play and rushed shots. They definitely need to clean that up, but this team plays much better when it plays fast as opposed to a slower half court set. Why? Our half court offense isn't very good so far! Watch the game closely and i have seen every game this year...in our half court set, it looks like we are running a high post pick/screen and pop offense. Our half court sets rely on one on one moves off a screen with very little ball movement. If the ball handler doesn't get free of the screen for a drive or midrange shot, the kick out to the perimeter is not working because we are not making our 3 point or deep 2 point shots. We have a good inside post player the freshman from Japan, but we don't feed her the ball enough in my opinion. If this team doesn't score in transition off of rebounds or steals, it has trouble scoring in a slow half court set. If someone out there sees something different, please chime in with your perspective...Sophie is doing so much more this season defensively with the hustle and boards and scrapping and assists. Noticeable improvement in cardio. When her shot starts falling they'll roll off some Ws.
