They were really padding the stats at the end, hate to see that in the last minute when we're down by 20+. That's on the coaches and the culture there.Notre Dame poured it on. Uggh. Despite the score, they played only 7 players and their 8th player had just 1 minute? Not very sportsmanlike - sorry but that is being jerky. They were up 23 after 3 quarters. Guess they figure it’s payback for last year. We played 12 players, Potts only played 2 minutes. It’s a cruel thought and I apologize but if one of those 7 had suffered an injury by being in the 4th quarter, I wouldn’t have cheered but wouldn’t have been that upset for them. They have 12 on their roster.
Is it conditioning or what that we fall apart after the 1st quarter?
Playing only 7 players in a 31 point win is disgusting. How would you like to be a Notre dame bench player? They just played their normal rotation all game. Regardless SU has to look internally and figure out who they are and what they want to be. You can’t just keep folding up in game after game. We should have at least tired them out with our larger rotation and made some runs at them. They were really padding the stats at the end, hate to see that in the last minute when we're down by 20+. yes, I completely agree. FLJ had a short speech at the end of the game, thanking everyone for coming and that the outcome today is not acceptable. Praised ND but knows that there is definitely work to be done on our side. The 1st half looked pretty good and then it all fell apart. Hidalgo is a force, she's not very tall so I don't know how well she'll do in the WNBA but she's got some skills.Playing only 7 players in a 31 point win is disgusting. ND got the late Pittsburgh transfer this season that I wanted, Liatu King. She was 1st team All ACC last year and is a double double machine.Bad free throw shooter though.yes, I completely agree. I have said it before..and it bears repeating again: the talent level to compete successfully in the competitive ACC is just not there for SU. The 6-5 freshman post player for Notre Dame, Koval, played with Syracuse's Shy on Long Island Lutheran the last two years, Citron, their smooth 6-2 wing, is from New York State, we recruited the 6-0 portal transfer forward from Pitt, who transferred to Notre Dame. There is a host of talented, athletic players as well as tall post players that we have missed out on these past two recruiting cycles because of the lack of NIL funding. These are the facts. Coach Jack is a great Coach, but she needs more talent. These first 4 ACC games are all against top tier talented teams and my concern is how will Coach Jack keep this team together under what could easily be an 0-4 start in league play! People on this thread are criticizing Notre Dame for only playing 7 players... and why they didn't play their bench players in a blow out . What Su fans should be talking about is the talent differential between their 7 man rotation and our team and what can we do to close that gap.Playing only 7 players in a 31 point win is disgusting. The game goes on and you play until the horn sounds. Losers complain about the score being run up on them and how in some way, that is poor sportsmanship! No athlete wants to be on the losing side of the scoreboard when you lose by 20+ points and hopefully, they use these type of games as motivation to work harder and play better. The players and coaches have some decisions to make and this season could go South real quick, if the losing continues and the effort and hard work decreases. It will be interesting to see how the team responds. Basketball is a competitive sport.Notre Dame poured it on. Uggh. I have similar concerns and wonder if she is going to end up like Dino Babers- average to low average coaching ability, problematic in-game decision making, limited recruiting appeal (NIL is certainly not helping this), whose reputation was built mostly on the dynamic skills of one star player. Not a naysayer but I watch the women a lot and I'm not sure that Coach Jack is a great coach. Great person and great rep of the university for sure but haven't seen the great coaching. Fundamentals, especially on defense, are noticeably lacking, aside from the talent issue.
If this is the case, I hope we move on quickly. We have a lot of alumni coaches who don't have great results.I have similar concerns and wonder if she is going to end up like Dino Babers- average to low average coaching ability, problematic in-game decision making, limited recruiting appeal (NIL is certainly not helping this), whose reputation was built mostly on the dynamic skills of one star player.
Both MBB & WBB have similar issues. Not a naysayer but I watch the women a lot and I'm not sure that Coach Jack is a great coach.
