We're either a 6 or a 7 now.

Losing to the #1 team in the country shouldn't drop us out of the Top 8.

Michigan and StonyBrook losing would be helpful.

Correct, we won’t drop lower than 7 with yesterday’s win. A loss to unc really won’t affect our seeding. Stony Brook isn’t going to lose, but they won’t move ahead of the Orange with only one top win against Colorado. I think the only teams that drop below Syracuse with losses are Michigan, navy and jhu. In reality, 5-8 doesn’t really matter, just have to hope you don’t line up opposite UNC in the quarterfinal. Ideally you get UNC in the final four on a neutral site.
