SU vs Yale (scrimmage)

My feeling is between the scrimmages we have played is that we are right where we expected good enough to beat Hofstra but maybe not what could be a top 3 team in Yale right now! We have to do a Duke and get better through the season! We shouldn’t be surprised if we lose some games early in the year!

Defence is good with 5 possible starters, faceoff numbers seem fine, middie spots are still up for grabs and we have 5 players that could start in attack!

Looking forward to getting going!
I think the analogy to Duke last year is spot on. Cuse is younger n a work in progress especially on O. Understand that Yale just officially gathered but they return many established vets n they did have a regular fall season with several scrimmages unlike Cuse . Some Yale followers believe this may be their best team ever so being down 8-5 after three before subbing is not terrible. G n fogo closing open questions n defense as expected. Offense apparently not in rythmn but talent is there, just a matter of continuiy n finding their identity. . I took the Hofstra result as a positive indicator that we are already a good team. The Yale result suggests that we are as presently ranked

Agreed, I wouldn't read to much into the final score. Yale is a really good team and despite the lack of practice time since the fall they are a very senior laden/upper class team so I am not surprised they played as well as they did. Obviously the offense for Syracuse has a long way to go and there are definitely some question marks. Going to be a bit of an up and down season for sure.

As the great Billy Bean once said, I hate to lose. I hate to lose more than I like to win. I remember that until a few seasons ago, SU lost no scrimmages, lost no pickup games, lost no bean bag games. Much too proud. Now I'm reading about losing is okay because the other team has older more experienced players. Let's not be satisfied with up and down. Let's not be satisfied with playing well. Let's not be satisfied with potential. Let's demand no more excuses, no more looking forward to next year. Let's win this thing.

Do love the passion , when we get to the ACC playoffs, can you barge into locker room with a pregame speech. Maybe a variation of Pacino's Inch by Inch

Love your enthusiasm and trust me theres no one that puts more pressure/expectations on the program then I do. I think they have slipped from the 90s and early 2000s considerably. That said SU is replacing by far there best two players in Mariano and Salcido, the best faceoff guy in SUs history, and two heady seniors in Evans and Firman. Offense is going to be a work in progress especially with this schedule but this current class and the 2018 fall class is full of high end O players. Adding Cooks. Magnan, Fiorini, and hopefully Staats to this midfield will be the best offense since the Powell era.
