The off topic forum is almost unbearable to visit.
Any chance of adding a "Politics" forum?
I just put the Off Topic board on ignore, finally.
You learn more about people than you care to. Just would rather know them as SU fans.
even calling it the Politics forum would be a deception. Just call it Rants and Raves. Nobody there is making an effort to convince the other side of anything; mostly, they just repeat their own sides' talking points at each other.
The Bee(s) Hive
It's awful, very Syracuse.com esque.i really think it should go away
Easy now. I live for the likes I get posting in my own liberal echo chamber.
Put the entire forum on "ignore" and your problem is solved.
I do have the Off Topic section on ignore but it would be nice if we could discuss other things like my wonder Speed Limits in CNY thread.
I support a Politics forum.
Agreed. A politics forum would help streamline things.
if you've visited the off topic forum and don't agree with the threads/posts then why even open it up? I don't get the desire to close it or name it something else. What threads do you want to post that don't already have a forum to do so? And if you don't care for the politics threads created there you're not forced to open them. I don't know, maybe if there was a separate politics thread some of the folks complaining wouldn't ever open it or post anything
Exactly. If the title of a thread even remotely suggests anything you might not want to read, don't click on it. If it turns out that the thread discusses something you didn't expect and don't care to read, close it.
I'm not sure any major changes are necessary either. You now have the ability to ignore posters, threads and entire forums if you want. Not sure how more user-friendly this place can get.
Or you could make another forum easily.
I have offered many times to create a separate, private forum, with a mod chosen by those interested.
There has never been any takers.
I've been on a lot thread discussion sites. You guys have done a really good job with the layout of posts on a web page.
I say KaiserUEO and Alsacs would make excellent mods for this new board.
Does private forum = payside??
I've received several requests over the past few years to up the participant limit for conversations. A private forum is the same idea, in message board format. Instead of inviting someone to a private conversation, you'd invite them to a private board.
Same idea, different format. But forum rules required by advertisers still apply (e.g. profanity and any degree of nudity)
Separate names with a comma.
