Ben Lewis recorded two tackles-for-loss, one sack and broke up a two-point conversion attempt to pace a defense that recorded four pass deflections, three interceptions, a blocked point-after attempt and a safety.

"After that tough loss against Urbana we had a real tough week of practice, and our team responded," Lewis said. "The first two drives, they kind of surprised us [with the formations] they were coming out in. After that we got our feet under us, and we take a lot of pride in our defense, so once we got a couple stops and we got it going."

Lewis, who has committed to playing college ball at Syracuse University, also hauled in a 49-yard reception for a score on a halfback pass from Bradley Rinehart to cap the Knights first possession of the second half. Rinehart later added a 1-yard touchdown run.

the issues with the pass defense seem to change play to play. an alarming number of well defended balls have been caught which doesn't help. Vs tulane we had one big play the Db lost the ball when in great position. We have had several big plays where the db's who are playing one handed couldn't out work the RCVRs. Multiple examples of blown assignments havent helped either.

i think we have also had a problem with the Young LBs messing up at key times on coverage.

The good thing is that many of the issues are not physical, guys are not just running by our guys, hopefully film and practice can correct a decent number of the issues. maybe the week off will also show us why we cant seem to get the blitz guys free to help with the pass rush. a healthy Jones might also help a bit

not sure that WV will really show much. we could play much better and not see it, unless we come out and shut them down, the real key will be the final 5 games all winnable with solid D even if the offense continues to struggle.
