What Bailey mentioned in the postgame PC about Dino considering switching Vettorello and Servais.
if Vettorello can consistently snap the ball, it makes a ton if sense. Gives us a little more beef inside and maybe Vettorello cuts down on the false starts when he's the one actually snapping the ball and starting the play.

Makes sense. Go under center if you need to. It's not like there's an actual pocket to work with anyway.

Isn't Vetterello the guy who quit? Wasn't he starting at left tackle, where Bergeron was last game?

I think you are thinking of grad transfer Ryan Alexander, who apparently was told he lost his starting job and immediately left the team.

Vet has been the LT almost all season. Alexander was the RT. Bergerson replaced him.

Thank you. I had him at the wrong spot.

It stinks to lose anyone, of course, but this season has really gone off the rails.

Forgive me, I couldn’t watch most of the game and didn’t read the summaries. How did Bergeron do? Quick take.

I was at the game. Not ideal for watching. He made a penalty at a bad time but overall, I think his pass blocking was far better than Alexander was able to do and his run blocking was not bad either. He seems stronger, fitter and more athletic than Ryan was.

Sampson not arriving on campus, and White not being ready really hurts. To be honest, after Qadir White and Wayne Morgan, wouldn't care if we ever got another NYC "4-Star" again. Give me FL, GA, high "3-Stars" all day long...

This one really hurt us. We were not in a position to "recover" from it, either. We don't have backup blue chips at the ready when one recruiting effort falls through.

pretty fair assessment. Bergeron looked better than Alexander had looked all season. I think he’s ultimately going to be a stud lineman with experience

So why wasn’t the change made sooner?
This staff has a really hard time trying new faces. Very reluctant even when it works. I don’t know why. Linebacker is proof. Dino in beginning of year said we would play guys so we don’t have to redo all over again. Well Jones has played. Richards should be getting run and so should Wallace. 12 is not a good player. He works hard and is a good kid but doesn’t have football savvy. Not an instinctual player. I don’t know. Also instead of playing Jones so much, redshirt him and get others involved so we can have some studs for a bit. I’m rambling.

Huh? You don’t think they are willing to try new faces anywhere? I believe this staff is more than willing to try out new blood anywhere - their jobs depend on it and starting true freshman like Andre Cisco, Smyzt, or bringing in guys lime Etta-Tawo to start over a kid like Ishmael prove otherwise.

They see these kids in practice everyday, and then evaluate FILM of that practice everyday. Perhaps Bergeron wasn’t necessarily ready at the beginning of the year, and then improved with each week, and finally took Alexander’s spot, hence him quitting?

I love Richards and his potential, but he reminds be a bit of JR Johnson. Great physical attributes, but he’s had some instances of being so far out of position out there we’ve giving up huge plays because of it.

Alexander, the grad transfer quit after Bergeron got first teams reps at his spot. Did not show up to practice the next day.

I would totally agree with you except for
Sampson not arriving on campus, and White not being ready really hurts. To be honest, after Qadir White and Wayne Morgan, wouldn't care if we ever got another NYC "4-Star" again. Give me FL, GA, high "3-Stars" all day long...
I would totally agree with you except for the fact that of course Adisa Isaac out of Brooklyn former 4* has had a very nice true freshman year at Penn St. I agree with you for the most part the 4* kids out of NYC have not really panned out.

your post was the first i heard about that - thanks for bringing it up

If Duerig is healthy, he should get some snaps at C.
He's 50 pounds heavier than Servais.

Once again, Qadir was extremely raw when we signed him and he was not expected to be a contributor for his first few seasons. He has the attributes to be a great 2-3 year starter at tackle, whether he's ready next year or the year after.

I hope we land every kid that has a strong offer list from NYC, whether they're raw or ready to go. Need to land guys like Curtis Samuel and Matthew Jones.

Oh, btw, Trill Williams came from Yonkers. You don't want players like him?

I don't think a player this "raw" as you say should have ever been given a 4-Star rating then. The NYC 4-Stars are not coming to Syracuse, and if they do, then there is a warning flag in my mind at this point...

Stars are based on potential. If the evaluators believe a player to be a potential all-conference player they usually give 4 stars. No matter how raw that player may be. Qadir has 3 more years to live up to that rating.

And Trill was a 4 star on at least one site. He's turned out to be pretty solid so far.

Wasn’t Avirin Collier(spelling?) a 4* out of Rochester that didn’t work out. So we shouldn’t get upstate 4*’s either?

Andre Cisco is from Long Island originally is he a 4* I forget...

We need as many 4*’s we can get doesn’t matter where they are from.
