There’s no sugarcoating it: this is one of the toughest environments in college football, and Syracuse enters with glaring issues on offense and a defense that’s been stretched thin by too many snaps. Notre Dame brings one of the nation’s best rushing attacks and a deeper roster across the board. If things break wrong early, this one can get out of hand fast. Here’s how it could slip away

  1. Notre Dame’s Rushing Duo Is Elite
    – Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price have combined for 1,724 yards and 23 TDs. If SU can’t contain the edges or plug lanes early, ND’s O-line will wear them down fast.

  2. Offense Can’t Sustain Drives
    – Syracuse’s biggest issue all year: the offense can’t stay on the field. At 18.4 PPG, they’re putting the defense in impossible spots. Another week of quick three-and-outs means another second-half fade.

  3. Notre Dame’s O-Line Is a Wall
    – The Irish front is one of the best in the country — physical, experienced, and balanced. They’ll test SU’s depth up front for four quarters.

  4. Defensive Wear-Down
    – Even the best units break if they’re on the field for 70 snaps. Syracuse’s defense has fought hard all season, but fatigue and lack of offensive support could make this another late-collapse story.

  5. Passing Game Still Grounded
    – Syracuse’s air attack ranks among the ACC’s worst. Without chunk plays or consistent separation, every drive has to be perfect — and that’s not realistic against ND’s secondary.

  6. First-Down Defense
    – SU’s defense has struggled to get off the field, giving up first downs in bunches. ND’s balanced run game will keep them ahead of schedule and make every drive feel endless.

  7. Notre Dame’s Secondary Is Legit
    – Young, athletic, and well-coached, this Irish DB group can erase mistakes up front. Syracuse hasn’t proven it can win contested throws or attack deep safeties effectively.

  8. Talent Gap Reality Check
    – The Irish simply have more depth and experience across the board. For Syracuse to win, they’ll need a near-perfect effort — and a few lucky breaks.
