  1. Size Matters – The Orange OL is averaging 6’5” / 318 lbs, compared to Colgate’s DL at 6’3” / 269 lbs. That’s not a matchup, that’s a buffet. Syracuse’s backs will be running behind a wall that’s 50 lbs per man heavier.

  2. Depth Chart Flex – Syracuse’s 2s and 3s would be Colgate’s 1s. This isn’t arrogance, it’s just the talent gap.

  3. History Lesson – Syracuse hasn’t lost to Colgate since 1950. That’s before color TV, Disney World, and pizza delivery as we know it.

  4. Second-Half Swagger – Against UConn, the offense came alive with 239 yards and 2 TDs in the 4th quarter, while the defense clamped down and allowed just 6 points in the half + OT. That rhythm carries forward.

  5. Speed Kills – Syracuse isn’t just fast, we’ve got layers of speed. If Colgate blinks, they’ll be watching orange jerseys streak by.

  6. Depth + Development – Injuries sting, but depth is finally here. Backups getting reps now means the future looks even brighter.

Thank you for doing this in memory of Steve.

Well done!!!

Biggest reason I think we win is because Steve Angeli is likely to have a pocket. We're going to see more sides of the arsenal when he has the time he needs to make good reads. The sort of Dan Villari in-route we've seen as a weapon can be a little bit more of a check down, and that opens up some lower percentage routes (like the big TD last week!).

So when we're marching down the field 10-15 yards on the typical completion, we'll also be chomping up possession. The defense is going to be more fresh, may not have to do the hockey-line-changes we saw, and can work on their pressure. Maybe we even throw a stunt or two.

We also have legitimate special teams. When you're coming in stronger than your opponent there's not a lot of temptation to go for it on those 4th and 2 plays, it's a refreshing change from last year for it to be no sweat to put out ST and take the points.

Yasin is sitting which I think is good for Clemson and also good for this game. Willis is a solid all around back, and when we mix it up Malachi James ought to get some snaps. You'll know it's him because it will appear that a cheetah has the ball.
