Sweet 16 people

I'm as big as SU fan as anyone, but its my opinion that is SU is on the elite bubble. We are the first tier of schools outside elite. Why? Take a look at that SU Nike Promo, the caption being, "its time for a 10 year reunion". Elite teams make a final four more than once a decade.

1987
1996 (9 years)
2003 (7 years)
Maybe 2013??? (10 years??)

Elite:
UK
1975, 1978, 1984, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2011, 2012
Mich State
1979, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2010
Duke
1978, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2010
UNC
1972, 1977, 1981, 1982, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2009
KU
1974, 1986, 1988, 1991, 1993, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2012

I love JB and SU, but honestly without the orange glasses on, we are on the bubble of being a blue blood
I think it is clear we are in a category just below those teams in "blue blood" status. But, four Sweet Sixteens in five years is nothing to sneeze at.

Most lists of the strongest college basketball programs of all-time put us in the 8-10 range, which is fair and accurate.

So the round of 16 is JBs worst right? When he wins sweet 16, we go to final four, is that accurate?
No ... lost in Elite 8 last year to Ohio State and in 1989 (I think) to the Marcus Liberty Fighting Illini.

And adding another sweet sixteen helps cement that status.

A lot of competition there and it is nice to keep them at bay. Programs like GTown, Pitt, maybe Gonzaga would rather have our season right now.

Still alive with a chance to make this one special. It's all you can ask for at this point.

It's a great accomplishment with the Sweet 16's and all but im not really into the whole "Haha UCONN and UK arent alive anymore"...uhh yea, well they won National Titles in the past few years. How about we try making a Final Four once in a while.

I am quite sure we tried. People somehow forget the extenuating circumstances in 2010 and last year. We would likely have been Final 4 at least one of those years, if not both.

Maybe its rationalization, but I KNOW in 2010 we win with AO and last year we were the best v amateur team in the land with Fab. Fate and circumstances deprived us of a NC and FF.

After getting blown out by Georgetown, which was our 4th loss in 5 games, I would have given my left nut to be in the Sweet 16.

I would hate to be a Gtown fan right now. They get to think about getting housed by Florida F*ckin' Gulf Coast this weekend (and entire off-season) while we relax and wait to get and see who we play next week.

Looking at how it shook out, the two regular season L's were worth getting the BET win and watching them the bed against FGCU.

KARMA, HOYAS.

We could complain there have been no final 4s in 10 years.
Again, it would have likely been two of the last three years without two HUGE problems, literally and figuratively.

No doubt last year we get to the championship game with Fab. Withey completely shut Sullinger down and Fab was much better than Withey last year.

Thats, great, and I agree with you, with AO and Fab we make at LEAST 1 final four. But the fact of the matter is until JB gets another maybe 2 Championships, we are not in the "elite camp"
