Swofford's Trips to Tallahassee

Swofford is a smart business guy, knows how to "herd the cats". Also liked that reality finally came to FSU...

"While it’s difficult to confirm how far those talks advanced, FSU officials came away with the understanding that the SEC saw little financial incentive to adding the Seminoles. Bringing on FSU would neither expand television markets nor open recruiting territories."

Makes you wonder who the SEC would want at this point. VT, NC State, Oklahoma? Texas of course, but they're rara avis.

Swofford is light years ahead of the guys who have run the Big East. The ACC should make sure he's not going anywhere.

Here's an article that gives detail on the work Swofford put in to keeping Florida State in the ACC and getting the GOR. It's interesting. He apparently went to Clemson and UVA too. For those interested in how this went down.

As has been mentioned here previously, and needs to be kept in mind:

“Typically, when we hear about the SEC’s numbers, it’s every apple and orange (factored) into that pool,” Barron said. “And typically, when you hear about ACC numbers, you’re hearing about what people are speculating about the TV contract, the details of which are not public information.”

That's a good read. Thanks Btstimpy. The article pretty much confirms that the SEC was never really interested in FSU and FSU was really never interested in the Big 12-2. It also demonstrates again that the coordinated disinformation campaign led by WVU "insiders" did have an impact on conference realignment, although the end result was the opposite of what they wanted.

What is amazing is the stealth strategy undertaken by Swofford and the ACC. In the last year the ACC expanded with 'Cuse and Pitt...and there was not a leak until the evening before it was announced; then there was Notre Dame with no leak at all...just the announcement; then there was Louisville over Uconn...again nothing until the announcement...and now the GOR...even though the ACC met with the Big 12 for a better understanding of GOR wording...and these trips mentioned in the article. All this points out that Swofford and the ACC do business the old fashioned way..back rooms, a cigar, jack and coke (haha) and a quiet confidence regardless of the chaos and rumors circulating.
I will just say that there is more...that's right more to come that will be a pleasant surprise--awesome surprise actually. Stay tuned...and remember sometimes its reading between the lines and other times it is our pay side stealth that brings 'Cuse up to snuff on what is happening (so many good posters on this board)!
It's good, no great to be 'Cuse!!!!

Thanks for the info Arb! Appreciate all the tidbits!

Does anybody have an estimate on the money figures for each team in the ACC if an ACC network is created?
