Symir Torrence: Pistons G League

So how does that conversation go? Does the staff tell him he won't get playing time if he stays and then assume he'll transfer, or do they straight up ask him to transfer and say they don't have room for him on the roster?

More the former. You can stay, but you aren't in our plans and PT will be scarce. That's usually enough to coax the player to move on in search of greener pastures.

Great article. A lot of insight beyond Symir‘s situation. Everybody involved seems to be trying to do the right thing and treat people fairly. Nice to see.
Would rather have the coach be honest, and let the players know, they can stay but aren't in plans to play much.
Good to see Red telling it like it is.

Hopefully he can play a couple years in Europe and land a coaching gig afterwards seems like that would be a fit for him. Have to think he could definitely coach one of the local HS teams like other former players.

I think he could be a good coach. Hope he gets some years out of his legs though.

Good luck to Symir and I wish him well, but truthfully I am shocked that he was able to make the G League.
I thought the same, but if you look at the rest of the roster, it's not exactly full of household names. But, he's still in the US, and he will have a lot of eyeballs observing him.
