Syracuse and Nike Extend Partnership

FYI, seeing Denver on that list makes me think Lacrosse was the catalyst here. NB is very big in Lacrosse.

This is how they pitched it to BC

I actually have New Balance. I have small feet due to my spina bifida and the adult sneakers are too big and the kids are too small and not my style so they had something that would work for me.

Now I'm not a college age football player either :)
They certainly make some high quality sneakers.

Don’t have much cache on the hardwood, but maybe Kawhi will help change that.

New Balance has been big with runners for a long time. I buy them alot because it's easy to find wide sizes. Nikes are too narrow much of the time. No bunions for me!

Glad SU is a nike school, though. The most recent football uniforms got back on track. Hopefully they do us right from now on.

Liverpool did some big things in New Balance kits before leaving for Nike's vastly superior distribution network. Don't presume distribution will be an issue for BC gear though... No supply works if there's no demand.

The SWAG is amazing. At Manhattan, my son got like $3K worth of stuff, plus unlimited goalie gloves, socks and cleats. Imagine the FB and BB stuff at a P5 school
I knew a girl that was on the crew team for Tennessee. She got so much stuff she gave some away.

While a firm Nike man before I went into the Army, two fallen arches later, I’m team New Balance. At the last “garage sale” Syracuse had at Manley, I tried on several different sneakers for my size 13-14 foot in Nike (given the many options of large sized basketball shoes), only to find that they are WAAYYY too narrow for my feet any more.

For the money, I’d put New Balance up against anyone in terms of quality. I’ve recently convinced my daughter to convert for softball (after many lackluster results from Nike and adidas), and my 11 year old really liked the cross trainers he got versus the meager offerings of the big names. His next baseball cleats will be new balance. Coolness and panache? Yeah, they’re dad shoes, but then again, I wish I’d have listened to my old man a little more sometimes

Shoes and their construction are really important to prevent aches and injuries for some people. When I ran, if my shoes were getting worn or if I purchased the wrong type I would get bad knee pain. My wife was the opposite. She could wear any brand until the soles were thin without any discomfort.
I even wondered if Brasswell's chronic pain was something as simple as the wrong type of shoes.

Joins Maine (and Maine only!) as a New Balance school. Is New Balance trying to lock up the New England footprint?

NB is based in Boston area.

The brand is trying to increase brand awareness and grow outside running. And with schools having fewer big-ticket options with adidas and Under Armour retrenching in these areas, slimmer pickings to subsidize athlete equipment is super important.

Makes total sense!

This is really interesting from a business standpoint. NB has 30 of 31 BC teams. Football is the 1 that is going to be doing their own thing. Sounds like Adidas. Very rare to see a supplier give up the team with the most exposure. Guessing this only happens because NB is a Boston company.

Wow. That’s super weird.
