Syracuse basketball team plans summer trip to Montreal and Ottawa

Living in Ottawa now, so this is good news.

Playing the University of Carleton Ravens will be a good matchup for Syracuse. Carleton has won the Canadian title 9 of the last 11 years, and tends to host these type of games nearly every year. They have played teams very tough in the past like Kansas, Florida and Louisville . Not saying they are as good -- they are not.. but given that NCAA teams have limited practice time for inexperienced players at that time of year and tend to play a longer bench, and Carleton has upperclassman that are permitted to play up to 5 years. the games are typically very close. So it will be a competitive game to watch.

Then you can go to Montreal to have fun.

Excellent news. Hopefully I can get the family up to Montreal to see some of these games. Great city in the summer.

Games have been open to the public in the past. I have never actually went to any against other schools in recent years, so I am not sure if its difficult to get a ticket in a small gym. My gut is that tickets are not hard to come by -- they are not highly publicized events up here.

Ottawa is a fine city to visit. 197 miles from Liverpool, should be able to get there in 2.5 hours with a short wait at the border, 3 hours tops.

Montreal is 253 miles from Liverpool. Some of the people there speak funny and dress funny but they do a pretty good job managing despite their handicaps. Hope Kris Joseph will put on a clinic on how to shot slap shots as part of this roadie.

Will have to stop by Chuck Hughes' restaurants while in Montreal. He seems like quite a character.

Yikes, planning for Italy and getting Canadia. DOH!! It's the 10 extra days of practice and scrimmages that matter though.

Canada instead of Italy according to the article. Sounds good to me. Much better chance of me making some of the games.

How many recruits do we get from Italy? How many do we get from Canada? Makes sense to me.

Montreal is 206 miles from Clifton Park. We usually go up there every year or so. One year we were there for New Years Eve and it was brutally cold. August would be a great month to go. I already have a full dancecard but I guess it depends what the dates are.

I have a ton of family in montreal, some of the best nightclubs, restaurents, etc. I will be the tour guide, and I promise you will have a good time!!!! get your passports ready!

I may get some of my Canadian pals together and head to Ottawa. Never been there and hear it's awesome. I've done Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City several times. Might be a cool little family trip...other than having to get the wife and kids passports. Ugh.

Ottawa and Montreal are only about 120 miles apart. Would be easy to make a mini-vacation out of both of them. Both are great cities (at least when I was there 20 years ago). Just remember to take your passport (which wasn't necessary 20 years ago).
