I would imagine Duke and Stanford would crush NIL if they really tapped into their alumni. Imagine if Harvard and Yale decided they were going to go all in with FBS football that they'd be competing sooner than later.

Duke isn't paying. Duke donors are paying. And I would imagine Duke has alumni that can find $4m in their couch.

No doubt they have alumni with much deeper pockets, but I don't think those alumni care enough to ever reach deep in em. Willing to bet no matter how hard those schools ADs pushed, those deep pocket donors wouldn't give the money to the athletic side of the school. Not the culture and support there. They'd rather put it into what ever academic niche they came from.
