Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse freshman defensive back Naesean Howard is no longer a part of the program.

"We have decided to part ways. We wish Naesean all the best in the future," coach Scott Shafer said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

No reason was given for the change in Howard's status, and it is unknown if he will have a chance to rejoin the team in the future...

Having some background knowledge about this kid, I'm not surprised at all. He's had issues at West Genny and some other stuff aside from that as well. It's just so crazy to me, if I was offered a free ride to SU to play football I would do everything in my power to not mess that up. I just can't wrap my head around it.

Me too Tom. Some of us just grow up and mature later than others. I just hope he doesn't see this as a failure and spirals downward...hopefully as a lesson and sees what he may miss out on if he doesn't turn things around.
