I can understand the disappointment & frustration, I am sure it is nothing compared to the way the players & coaches feel right now, they don't prepare to lose they prepare to win. Sometimes that works out, you win & sometimes you have a bad day like the G'Town game and you lose, most importantly it is what this team does to shake off the season thus far & prepare to move forward...they have their chance.. they can beat ND Sat...turn around & beat Nova like they should have the 1st time ..win the Big East and they are right back in the mix! The team dictates their own destiny..having all of this negativity is just that NEGATIVITY...it is counter productive...the shoulda woulda coulda comments about how bad certain players are and how all of the anonymous posters would change the game plan, fire Coach Desko, switch EMO at this point of the season is just plain stupid. We need to trust our coaching staff , we need to believe in our players' ability & elite talent..this is the 2012 SU Lacrosse team..they need to figure out who they are & what their legacy will be. At this point of the season it is best to keep our negative opinions to ourselves...we have the BEST fans in the game.. now is not the time to give up & throw players/coaches under the bus! :) WE ARE...SU LAX!

Seriously though, this team has problems. You can still be a fan and understand that this team might just not be a title contender. I'm not throwing anyone under the bus (and I know some are), but this year the team has issues that are probably not correctable with the current roster.

I cannot dissagree with you that there are issues but as a fan they are mute What I can disagree with you is that the issues are not correctable this year, quite the contrary. We have seen a go-to-guy in Palasek, a big-time scorer in Maltz, Eillers stepping into more of a leadership role at midfield. Some younger players like Wardwell,Walters, Mullins, Schoonmaker are comfortably emerging into their roles. We have seen "Plan Z" using Megill at X work as "Plan A". If they can pull this all together heading into the post season the issues are correctable. The most important thing that this team, whether you are a starter or a player on the sideline, has to truly believe in & embrace is the foundation that has made Syracuse Lacrosse such a rich tradition...Head Heart & Hustle. I AM....SU AND PROUD OF IT!;)

I'm SU and proud of it, too. I hope you are right, but my impression is that if you haven't seen it through 13 games (Rutgers doesn't count, because they're...well...Rutgers), I don't expect to see it. I hope I am wrong, and pleasantly surprised. HHH

Hey I love your optimisim and I can appreciate how much of a fan you are but your really overlooking the issues on this team and not looking at this team objectively.

This team is 7-6 and has one regular season game left, its clear there not going to work out all the kinks/issues this year despite how bad we want it to.

Not to nitpick but I have to take issue with some of your statements. Maltz has had some huge games but hes still to feast or famine this offense cant afford for him to put up a Zero against Gtown a few days after a 6 goal outburst. This offense is sorely lacking in firepower and consistency, Maltz has to have at least a goal and an assist every game for this team at minimum. I will say Eilers has stepped up the last few games but at this point with him being a Senior and his turnover issues its to little to late.

I also have to take issue with your statement that Wardwell,Walters, Mullins, Schoonmaker are comfortably emerging into their roles. Wardwell is taking his lumps and has shown some flashes but hes going through the issues we expected him to as a freshmen. Hes going to be a great one but at this point you cant say he is comfortable at his position. Mullins both have shown flashes but Schoonmaker is only a part time player at this point and is still getting ahold of the game at the D1 Level. Mullins is gonna be a star here and I agree he looks to be getting better every week really looking forward to seeing him next year. As for Walters he has barely played outside of the man up for the last few weeks which I think from what I have seen is a mistake and I wish he had gotten some more PT earlier in the year. However theres no way you can say hes gettign comfortable in his role as he doesn't even have one yet.

The bottom line is that the offense for this team and faceoffs continue to be a mess. Megill is only taking a handful of draws a game at this point because Desko cant afford to wear him out, hes not a viable option. The issues with this offens arent going to be fixed or addressed this year its way to late in the season and many of the potential answers are redshirting or not even on the roster at this point.

This is spot on. Bottom line, we might be able to will ourselves into the tourney as we are fully capable and talented enough to beat Nova and presumably ND. Even if that happens though, it would be foolish to believe we have a championship team. Besides all you mentioned, there is something missing with this team that most SU championship squads had. Maybe its that killer instinct, maybe its just intelligent play, who knows. After the last four years, I actually not overly angry about it either. We won two ships and then had the best team on two other great years despite getting upset. The game has evolved enough that it will not be easy to be a dynasty anymore. Heck look at Hopkins troubles these last few years. No one would deny that Cuse, UVA, and Hop have been the power teams and each has taken some lumps.
