Syracuse finishes 5th in Coaches Poll

The tournament is one thing, a poll is something else. The tourney is a one and done deal whereas the polls are suppose to reflect a body of work. Lets go to the extreme, if VCU had won it all last year, should they have been ranked #1 in the final poll? IMO, no. Of course ANYONE would rather win the tourney than be ranked #1, but if they are going to have a poll after the tourney, voters shouldn't change their mindset. During the year they vote based on the full body of work.

Should the final poll reflect the body of work (taking a game in mid-November into account)?

Or should the final poll be a ranking of each team based on how good each team is (not was) once the season is complete (April 3rd)?

College football is all about the "body of work."

full body of work like it is all season. why change the concept of how a poll is done just because it is the last one? of course games in the ncaa would carry more weight than a game in November. but the poll shouldn't be about who is the best on that day, that was determined by the tourney itself. if the regular season polls were treated like the final one is, then nd should have been ranked ahead of us after they beat us. that didn't happen because the poll takes into account the body of work with more weight given to more current games. so why is the final poll different? should the final poll only take into account the tourney? if so, you don't need a final poll.

I just don't think your last game should be the the overriding element in your
ranking, but it should weigh more then November games.
